For those of you who have the BAL leveler and are looking for a reasonable price bag to store it in, check out the Cheaper Than Dirt website at //www.cheaperthandirt.com . Item number LOW-536 , the Bulgarian Web Set for $6.97. I bought one from a sale catalog they sent me, in which it was only $5.97, because by the description in the catalog it looked like it would fit. Well it fits just about perfectly. The bags are made of fairly heavy canvas and look pretty sturdy. I am planning to sew some velcro onto the flap to close it instead of using the straps that it comes with. The set has the large bag which fits the leveler and five other assorted size bags, a belt and shoulder straps for it. Great deal for the money if you can use it.

Do you think the grease will soak through the bag? :)

tlhdoc   I am not sure if any grease would soak thru the bag or not. It is a fairly heavy military type canvas. Maybe one could waterproof the inside before using it to help avoid this. I guess I will find out next camping season when I start using mine.

What timing, we were just talking about getting something for the BAL. Our box is getting sadder with each trip.

Would there be enough room to line the inside with either padding or thin plywood? I'm thinking of protecting other items from the ends & edges of the BAL as it may get moved around some while being stored.

Cool!

Our BAL rides on the back of the camper when we're traveling but this would be a great way to store it while at home. Thanks for the heads-up!

ForestCreature    I think there would be room enough to put some 1/4" plywood in the bag also. The BAL fits into it in only one direction since it is bigger one way than the other but it looks like there would be some room left over. Also I did not mention this but the bag also has a compartment on each side (2) besides the large part of it.

Thanks for the tip! I have been looking for something else besides the original box. Closest thing i could find was a pizza bag (that delivery drivers use).

eBay has several of the pizza bags, but i didn't want to pay the price! :D

I am planning to line the bag with some type of water repellant material to keep the grease from ruining the bag.

Would it be possible, to cut a short length of hose, or PVC pipe, and slip that over the screw? This would keep the grease to a minimum, and be easy to put on or take off. Only thing not covered would be the "cup" where the screw sets. wipe off the excess around the top of the cup, and it should work. Once inside the bag would hold it on ???

I ordered mine today. Better hurry, there's only 500+ left.;)

I bought one of these last night after seeing the post.  I never got back to PUT since I looked at virtually every item they had for sale.  My favorite was the used/army surplus insulated underwear...

I had made a heavy canvas bag with velcro to close it and DH got an idea and slid the original box inside the canvas bag.  The bag keeps the box together, the box keeps the canvas clean, and the whole thing keeps the grease off the camper.  It's a very codependent relationship! :D LOL  Anyway, you can try to put your original box in there because even if it's getting worn, the canvas bag will help keep it together.

I packed my BAL leveler into the bag tonight and put it back into the storage compartment on the camper for the winter. It takes up less room in the bag than it did in the shipping box and looks like it will work out great in it new "home" . Has anyone else recieved theirs yet and if so what do you think of it?
Oh yes and by the way, I did sew velcro onto the flap to help keep it closed and had intended to cut the straps off that it came with and just use the velcro but I left the straps on instead and use both the velcro and the straps to keep it closed.

I received mine yesterday, but woun't be able to check it out until next week.

I just thought that I would bring this back up to the top of the pile again incase you received a BAL leveler for Christmas and need something to store it in.
