Newport Dunes Feb 18-21

I'm really not happy about this forecast.  It would be one thing if it was only supposed to rain one day this weekend but it looks like rain is expected the entire weekend.  Booohoooo!  Whale watching in the rain?  I guess the whales don't care!  

So Dee, we checked the cancellation policy for Newport Dunes and it looks like we need to make a decision by tomorrow in order to avoid forfeiting one night plus $25 (otherwise it is just the $25).  What are you thinking?  I hate to be the party pooper but being holed up in the trailer all weekend doesn't sound like a great plan (especially since we are bringing guests!)

Dans says: if you don't show up we'll have to eat your B-day cake w/o you :J

I know you have to do the whole set up thing and darksiders and us don't.. I tell ya what... if it's totally raining when you show up. You & Jim can have one of the beds in the back & Gregory & Samantha the other. Dan & I will Take the front one and I'll covert the dinette for Kara and the sofa for Kevin...

then everyone can listen to me & Jim snore together  :yikes:

all systems are GO for this weekend.  the weather has been unreliable this week...what do those weatherpeople know, anyway?!?!?  
between dee n dan's rig and our motorhome.  we can make sleeping arrangements work for everyone if it's raining friday nite and we don't want to set up the p.u.t.

the good thing about newport is that there is plenty to do nearby if the weather is inclement

Okay now.  I can't have you guys eating my birthday cake without me. We'll be there with bells and raincoats on. We're planning on going whale watching too, rain or shine.  Karen just told me that a pod of killer whales was spotted off of Newport yesterday.

going shopping tomorrow I want to make sure I have the meals straight.

Fri: on your own (oyo)

Sat: 9 am Dee to make breakfast burritos for the clan and cereal for my picky brats and whoever else wants it.

Leave about 10:45 for noon Whale watching (weather permitting)


Sat. Dinner:  BYO steaks to bbq and a side dish to share   (Jeanne I know you mentioned getting steaks from costco but the group has gotten larger).

Sun: Breakfast by Chezway & Darksiders: Pancakes  (Yum)

Sun lunch: OYO

Sun dinner: BYO Hamburgers & hot dogs to BBQ ,& Buns and a side to share
  I won't be there for dinner but will have all the needed food stuff-Thanks Jeanne for making sure my kids don't starve  


Sunday I will be gone from about 3:30 until about 8:00

I'm soo ready to go now...is it Friday yet??? 2 more days!!

geee I think Kevin needs another R/C Car he has a total of 5 and I'm bringing them all, that way maybe the Big kids won't fight over them :J

I MAY bring his radio plane too...and he has a rocket also

Jeanne: Kevin wants to bring his Laser Tag to play with Gregory..I told him I had to get your permission first since it's basically a gun game shooting each other.
I totally understand if you'd rather him not bring it.

No problem with the laser tag.  We had a birthday party for Gregory a couple of years ago at Ultrazone (laser tag) and we all had a blast.  We have r/c cars too so I'll tell Jim to pack 'em up.

I am still planning on bringing steaks for my birthday celebration for 13 adults (parents can share with their kids).  Here are the adults that I am counting on:

that sounds great..and the share with the kids thing works.... mine probably wouldn't eat it anyway :swear:   actually that means more for me :p

is Lori coming??? I hope so    Randy & Kerrry Flinders had posted earlier on as a maybe for Sat around 4:30 and Joining the potluck. if you cook a couple of extras just in case, you'll have dinner made for Monday when you get home  

I'm going to bring for sure Green salad for the side. do you think Italian, ranch & 1,000 will cover everyone?? I may make some garlic cheese toast too. (just so I can use my oven  :p )I think Karen is doing au gratin potatos, lkw bringing chili

I also have desert covered probably for both nights. I ordered a cake from Costco and I have Cocolate chip Ice cream too!!
I thought I'd go all out since the calories don't count when someones birthday falls during the presidents birthday weekend :eyecrazy:  


for Sunday since I have to work, to make it easy on Dan I'm bringing potato salad as the side.

I may ask for a late check out on Monday. their website states they now have free late checkout on Sundays if your site is open..being Monday in the winter there is a good chance I would think

Jeanne said it was 2 1/2 hours so we should be back by 3PM. that also depends on the rain and the way the weather has been I don't think we can make that decision until Sat morning....so call me. and yes shrimp would be fine I'm sure. I know you'll make Dan & Kevin happy :p   (sigh... I miss "G" & Scott)
