I just found out that I'm in charge of goodie/treat bags for DD's swim team Christmas party and I need your help.  The kids range in age from 7 to 17, I don't know how many bags I'll need yet.

When I asked my 13 year old DD what she'd like in a goodie bag she said, "some candy, maybe a pen, small notebook or key chain."

Any ideas or suggestions you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tena

I'm assuming all members of your DD's swim team are girls?  If so, the notebook idea is a good one, made better if you can find something with faux fur or feathers on it and a fancy, girlish pen to go with it.  Putting my thinking cap on here and just throwing out a bunch of ideas:  what about some temporary tatoos, flavored lip gloss or chap stick, some type of cheap but fun jewelry (rings/bracelets/earrings), funky or christmas themed socks, gloves or scarves...?

Unfortunately, your job is harder than usual because the age range is so wide.  I was just at the party store today to get the goodies for my son's fourth birthday party this weekend and the cost of the stuff that goes into these things adds up quickly!!!!!

One other thought: if you have the time, you might want to browse the aisles at your local 99 cent store and see if they have anything that would be cute, and more importantly, inexpensive!

what about swim goggles??? or swim caps.

Could be a little difficult with the age range.  If it was for girls only how about some little bottles of lotion, or some bracelts.  Depending on how much $$ you are spending you could even put in a gift certificate to Baskin Robbins or get some Burger King Bucks.  For boys maybe a hot wheels car (younger kids) or a bouncy ball.  I agree with Lori, the dollar store has some great finds for not a lot of cash.

Another suggestion is Oriental Trading Company.  They have a website (orientaltrading.com), they're a good place to get quantities (usually as low as 10) of things for a decent price.  And they have all kinds of things like pencils, bouncy balls, slinky things, little stuffed animals.... and the list goes on forever.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions.

Since we will be buying for up to 60 kids, boys and girls both, I'm leaning towards pens, note pads, gel bracelets in the team colors, maybe chap stik or possible holiday socks (if parents want to pool $$ to get these).  I will have other families helping me, thank goodness.

Keep those ideas coming!

I belong to a crafters board and one lady had posted what she did for office gifts... she went to the $1 store and bought a basket and did individual baskets for everyone ... ie 1 asst lotions, 1 asst hair products, 1 asst stationary ... have your DD make a list of everyone what what they like... and maybe even a porcelain or glass statue added to the basket... could do something nice for a minimal cost.

I do a lot of high numbered "goodie Bags"  Oriental trading company all the way!
