I think I'm happy but still a little sad.

When we came back from our last camping trip in October we dropped the the pop-up off for some service work, when we were there we noticed that the Bantam Flier F17 was on the lot.  We had looked at this camper before but it didn't have the bed end and was simply a trailer, we liked the set up and said someday we will get one with a pop-out bed end.  We have looked at lots of others but we don't need much room, it has only one bed end with the other end storage, and it seemed perfect for us....down the road sometime.  I don't know what happened but we got carried away and bought it after we saw the real thing.  They gave us a good price for the pop-up and for it, but there is so much to learn.  They ordered us a new one with the things we wanted on it and now last night they called to tell us it is in, so tonight we go and do the paper work and transfer the stuff from the pop-up into it.  It will stay on the lot for the winter and we will do the actual walk through with the warrenty starting when we pick it up the end of April.  I have loved the pop-up and thought it was the perfect camper for us, but we aren't getting any younger and less work to set up and take down along with the option to not pop-out the bed in bad weather seemed good.  We had so many wonderful times and good memories camping in the pop-up, I'm sure we will have many more good times in this camper too, but right now I'm feeling a little sad.

The sadness you are feeling will go away the first time the hybrid is at home and you are loading it up with all of your gear, and it is raining out. You are really going to like being able to go in and out of it at will, without setting up and taking down.

Genef did the same as you by purchasing and waiting to pick up until spring. I bought mine and brought it home in December. My warranty runs out this month VS April but I figured I wouldn't use it before April anyway and anything I needed repaired would have been noticed by the end of last season, which it was.

From the time I brought it home in December until we took a long trip in April I had already done a few mods and figured out the furnace worked real well.

Good luck with your new purchase and maybe the dealer will give you visitation to the new one.:)

PopupSgt

totally agree that you will forget all about the popup.  We bought our hybrid in August of this year and I had some hesitance about the purchase and moving up to somthing of this magnitude.

That all changed on our first time camping with the new hybrid and it was raining upon arrival.  All we did was hook up power, power the slide out, and relaxed listening to the radio and chatting with our friends inside the camper all warm and dry.

After the rain stopped we lowered the beds and sent the kiddos to bed.  Also we enjoy the breakdown time, b4 the hybrid it was an easy 2 hour task, now about 20 minutes we are done.  We love our hybrid and would not go back to a popup.

Cheers

Congratulations tentcamper.  Where did you get the new trailer?:)

Congrats on the new camper. I know you will enjoy it, especially the first time you set up in the rain...

...or break down in the rain...

...or use its potty at an undiscovered dirty Rest Area...

...or pack it up before leaving...

...or show it off to friends...

...or dump the holding tanks instead of a heavy Blue Tote...

...

(can anyone tell I'm a little envious?)

HEY, CONGRATS ANYWAY! :-()

Tracy, we purchased the Bantam from Boyers in Erie, they have been very good to deal with, no problems with the Sun Valley and don't expect any with this one.  They are a family owned and very nice.  We did get to see the Bantam but it was still in the work area getting prepped, actually in the middle of it, one of the burners in the stove didn't work so they are replacing it already. It was kind of hard to tell what it is going to look like in the end, they were still putting up all the detecters and it wasn't cleaned up yet, but everything we ordered was in it.  Couldn't transfer our stuff from the pop-up because it was buried in snow, they said they would put it in boxes for us and put them in the Bantam when they could find it under the snow.  We will probably go out in a couple of weeks after it's ready and take a good look at it if it dosen't get snowed in before we get there. (We have visitation and keys)  The plan is to get things put away when it gets warm and before we take final possession and do the walk through.  We will do the walk through then take it to a campground near home for the first night, try out everything while we are close enough to the dealers for questions and problem resolution.  Then the next day off to the Smokeys for twelve days!  Hope April comes soon...... :D
