Hello fellow campers!

I have been a tent camper all my life and finally crossed over to a 2005 Rockwood 2318G. My question is ... What company do you recommend using to insure pu?

 Thanks!

copcarguy

I use State Farm because I have an excellent agent and they insure everything else in my life. lol  My camper dealer tried to BS me into thinking the PU was insured when towing through the auto policy (which is true) but what happens when it's in your backyard and a tree falls on it??  I ended up getting a camper policy which costs me less than $6.00 a month.  Yes,  - SIX dollars.  Not a lot for full coverage if you ask me.  I hope this helped!

we use AAA as they insure all our vehicles & our house. (they had me in a new car 6 days after my accident and my car was totallled)

I would check with your car insurance company

Check with your car insurance company--the cost is usually very little.  I think ours is $11 for 6 mos. with a $100 deductible.

We use State Farm (and have for many years...love our agent) for everything EXCEPT for our camper.  I did  several comparisons on the camper insurnace and when I showed our State Farm agent the total (everything covered

Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability

  Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists

  Medical Payments

  Comprehensive & Collision

  Total Loss Replacement Cost

  Roadside Assistance

  Emergency Expense

  Replacement Cost Personal Effects

  Vacation Liability

  Mexico Physical Damage

coverage ) I could get through Progressive and the rate, she told me I'd be crazy not to go with theirs.  ...so...on the recommendation of my own State Farm agent...we went with Progressive.

For the information. I will hash this out today and get this thing insured.

Here's an off topic question ...  How do you get a picture or logo posted under your user name?

 Thanks again!

Hello vjm1639,

Progressive is who I use to insure my ATV. I will start with them. My boat and truck are insured with Allied. I'll post which company I go with later on.

 Regards.

I use a company called Foremost Insurance.  They are an RV specific insurance co.  They cover everything, including if a bear tears through your camper to find food. (I asked them if they actually covered that, they said yes) It cost me $275.00 for 3 years of coverage.

Follow this path: |user cp| (found at the top of this page) |avatar| then scroll down to custom avatars.
Then follow the directions for linking or "uploading" your image. If you upload, you will first need to reduce your image to no larger than 80x80 pixels.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!   Hope you find a great deal. Insurance  prices vary so much from company to company and then depending on what area of the country you live in.  I'm one of those crazy people who have to research everything before I buy.... I did an online search for RV or camper insurance and then asked for rate quotes from a bunch of them.
Hope you find a good one for yourself...and even more so...hope none of us ever need to use it!  :>

We had MPV through Camping World and when they quite offering "RV" insurance we had a hard time finding another company that could come close to the same cost.  That was about the time I need to add the Hybred (but we still had the PU).  Be very careful when dealing with State Farm and Allstate, etc. (just examples) because during my adventures finding another company that would cover all our vehicles some companies had clauses that would cover the PU while being towed, but if for some reason, it came unhitched while being towed, that was not covered.  Go figure!!!  Also some will cover while towing, but not while sitting at home or in storage.   Be very specific with your questions.   We ended up with 21st. Century.   When I received the policy they stated in it that they covered "utility trailers" so I had to call and ask them if that meant they covered travel trailers.  The said yes, so I asked them to put that in writing just to be safe and my piece of mind.

Good Luck

we use american modern insurance group for both of our trailers, and it covers a lot

I'm a transplant from Florida. My brother went to ISU. I am looking forward to Spring and getting my pu out and about.

 Thanks for the welcome!

Well, after shopping around for not only the lowest prices but the best options as well, I am going with Progressive. They offered me a total loss coverage for the first 5 years which would replace the pu with a new one if totalled and a dissappearing deductable that zeros out in four years. For $161 a year that sounds really good.

 Thanks all for the information!
