We will be at Woods Valley in San Diego county Thursday, April 28th through Sunday, May 1st, if anyone would like to join us.  This will be our first time camping at this campground and we are looking forward to trying a new place.

Where's this?  What do you know about it?  All this stuff in San Diego makes me nervous -- real close to my mom, bless her heart!  She's not a camper at all.

Hi Laura,

Woods Valley is "nestled in the foothills of San Diego's North County," so says their web site: http://www.woodsvalley.com/ We haven't camped here yet, but those who have say it's nice. I think it's fairly close to San Diego Wild Animal Park, and we may go there that Friday.

Even if your mom isn't a camper, don't be afraid to get her out there! She's too close not to! :) We take my mom camping with us a lot. She just turned 78 and had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery last year. The good thing about camping in a PU is that it's not really that bad. We don't have my mom do anything strenuous and we just try to make sure she has a good time. She LOVES camping with us, and my 4 y/o gets a huge kick out of sleeping with his Nana.

Gee that's  Our 10 year wedding anniversary. (29th)what a better way to spend it... camping with all the ones we love :D

Man, when will that softball schedule come out?????  I'm dying to go camping and this is one of our favorite places.  Hopefully I'll know by the end of the month if we're free that weekend.

Lori, did you check if anything's open in the boomerang section? It's much quieter and closer to the showers and bigger bathroom, plus less traffic. Anything around the boomerang, even the sites in the 71-76 area, is quieter.

The best site is 70 and 70A, in our opinion.  It's a double site, on the same level, and perfect if you're camping with someone.  We put 10 Girl Scouts, plus six parents, on these two sites.  My girls may go back this summer.  The sites are sort of stair stepped, but these two are together.  The end sites that form a semicircle are also great (61-63).  They're actually all great in this section.  We've stayed at several of them, as well as a few in the Oaks section.  Oooooh, I wanna go!

Yes Yes Yes!  Come camping with us!!

Without the chitlins sounds nice, but if we ever went camping without Griffin, he'd never forgive us!  The kid loves camping so much, I'm pretty sure it would scar him for life!

Trina, thanks for the heads up on the sites.  I'll call back and ask.  Sharon just put us in that site and since we've never been to WV, I didn't really know what sites would be good.

we'll probably end up going ..the thought of getting away by ourselves is just a dream.  besides I was thinking nice hotel ..room service..etc. but then the prices for hotels when I have my own "house"  to take wherever we want to go.

Hey Lori maybe you can make  breakfast and deliver it to us..that would be like room service :J

Looks like a nice place.....Have to check out DH work and see if we can make this one.......With all those Oak trees and water How is the mosquito situation?

griffsmom

Yikes!  I didn't even think about mosquitos, carol!  Is late April/early May still too early in the season for them?  I guess we can bring citronella candles...what else?

cjpoppin

I would not have thought of it either except I heard on the news last night that they have had the first case of West Nile virus already(in a bird and human) so it is a good idea to be prepared for the chance they are out in this area........Just burn candles, dress in the early morning and evening with long sleeve shirts put up your screen room if you have one helps keeps the bugs out of PU......Most of all hope it will be to early.........Can't stop living just take measures... use spray and have fun.........If a mosquito is in the area it hunts me down bites me over the ten others in the room.....guess I'm overly cautious........Hahaaaaaaa  Oh for the good old days when we did not have to worry about this kind of stuff.........

Dee4j

I'll just douse everyone in some Avons skin-so -soft and we'll all just smell perty :p

We stayed here a year ago Jan.  It is a nice campground and I loved all the big trees!  Wish we could go, but we are heading North that weekend - TROUT Season Opens!!

Have fun you guys and tell Griffin to say hi to the big pig and the sheep they have there for me!
