Is there a company that RV'ers can go to insure their Hybrid? I called my insurance agent and he quoted me $144.50 (6 months) to insure a 2005 Rockwood Roo 19. That has a $100 deductible and $250 collision.

To me that was high, but he said he thought there was clubs out there specifically for RV. However, he left it up to me to find something!

Just checking! Am I correct, that the quote is high?

When I talked to my insurance agent, this is the explaination that I got:
When at home, the RV is covered by homeowners policy
When being towed, RV is covered by Auto policy
When at a campsite or any other "alone" situation an RV policy is needed to cover the RV and contents. It is important to ask if the policy covers "replacement value" and "contents". Some do NOT.
That said, our policy for "replacement value" and "contents" for our 2005 Rockwood Roo 21 Superslide Hybrid is only $15.53 a month.
Shop around!

I got a tip on RVAA and I am checking into a quote. They have full replacement and it is much betterthan an add-on to your auto policy.
Listed at this link are some of the reasons.

I got Progressive full coverage insurance for $161 which includes a total loss coverage for the first 5 years which means that Progressive will replace your PU with a NEW one and not simply pay you the value of your PU. Also, Progressive offers zero deductablility which means you deductable zeros out in 4 years if you have no claims.

We have Progressive also.   Even my State Farm agent (who we have used for years for all vehicles and our homes) said they couldn't come close to either the coverage or price of the Progressive deal we got!

Beer Belly

What I was told by my Allstate agent was that when it is at Home, unhitched on your property it  Is Not  covered under Homeowners "cause its not a Structure (Building)", therefore Allstate will not cover it sitting in the Yard/Driveway.

Gone-Camping

The Good Sam Club has RV specific insurance, with some really great coverage features including (but not limited to) insuring the gear inside your trailer, trip insurance, etc... However, it cost a lot more than what your regular company is going to charge!!

I just got a quote for my new Pup from RV America (Progressive) for $187 yr.  It has full replacement for 1st 5 years and after that they pay me what I paid for it for the life of the policy. Also includes damage with $500 ded, hotel, rental car provisions, personal belongings @ $2000 with $100 ded, roadside assistance for RV AND tow veh, liability if someone gets hurt while in it or on my CG.  Pretty good deal!

I have my PU insured through my auto policy, but maybe I should think about changing to a pure RV insurance.

We have State Farm and ours is only $145 for the year for full coverage no matter what (we're even insurec if we're camping and a critter tears a hole in the canvas)... when we had our '85 we checked and if the PU is attached to the vehicle, the car insurance covers it; if it becomes detached for some reason .. if we hadn't gotten PU insurance then we would have been out of luck.. they said that for example if we were towing and had an accident and the PU became detached and it hit something, the other property would not have been covered along with the PU even though the PU had been attached.. at that time we opted for $50/yr for full coverage; to us, better safe then sorry especially if something did happen and someone would want to sue (in this day and age everyone is sue happy).

Personal experience that we have had with Progressive was that 2 different times our oldest DD has hit by people who had Progressive car insurance and we had to fight tooth and nail to get payment (and kept trying to deny our claims)... luckily our State Farm agent stayed on the ball and kept our bills paid and they fought Progressive... I'd like a company to keep everyone happy.  I don't judge a company by one experience, but 2 times within a year with different Progressive offices, and having the same trouble.. I personnaly would be leary.

Camping World quoted me $499.00 for 6 months for my TT !!!  They have to be nuts !!!!!

Still shopping.............................................

Update:  Best price so far is Progressive- $389.00 per year.  Which is ok I guess.  But when you consider we paid $275.00 for 3 years through Foremost on our Viking pop-up that price is out of control.  Is TT insurance that much more than Pop-up?
