Can any one suggest any good campground near Gettysbury,  PA.  We don't need any hook up's.  We like to camp in state parks...

I have only camped in 2 campgrounds near Gettysburg, and both were private campgrounds.  Drummer Boy is very nice and I really like the sites behind the fishing pond.  It is also on the expensive side.  The other campground we stayed at is Round Top Campground.  We were in the section called Little Round Top that is down hill from the office.  It is also a nice campground.:)

I too am a State Park fan but last year we stayed at Little Drummer Boy campground and had a great time. Its near the town, wooded, quiet, clean and has a nice pool to relax by. The people who work there are friendly and very helpful with information about the area. Im going to go back someday and I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.....also theres an outdoor hot tub to soak those travel weary bones in.....

We (Wife & I)  with both of the aforementioned campgrounds, Both have Very good Customer relation skills, Clean, Quiet, and close to town. We try to go atleast twice a season. Grand-kids really enjoy the Holloween weekend in October at Drummer Boy.

There is a wonderful state park about 10 miles away from Gettysburg, next to Chambersburg on the road that goes through Chambersburg (Rt. 30 I think) called Caledonia.

Our family has stayed there a couple of times and we absolutely love it! There is a pool, golfcourse, hiking, and wonderful waterfalls!

Since it is a state park, the price is right also!

It is far enough away from G-burg that you can avoid all the crowds, yet close enough to get to the battlefield in a few minutes.
