Anybody ever heard of an anvil shoot? I never had, until today!

Sounds like a great event to camp near, and attend!

Hey Larry,
This sounds really cool! I'm putting it on our "We'd really like to see this" list along with Punkin Chunkin in Delaware in Oct.  Maybe we'll see you there this year or next!

Talk about lots of "bang for your buck":yikes:!

Sounds like the whole thing would be a lot of fun.  May have to head that way.  Haven't been in that part of the country in about 30+ years.  May be time to return.

Thanks for the info and happy camping!

That sounds like it would be fun to attend!  I grew up in East Tennessee and have family now in Jefferson City...not far from there at all.

Wow, I had seen that in a cartoon once!  People actually blow up an anvil and hope it flys straight up!  I really hope they don't use an imported cast Chinese anvil!  Flying shrapnel a-plenty!

The rest of the event sounds fun, (and much safer)!

In the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" there is a scene on anvil shooting.  They even explain it, although I don't remember what was said.  It is a pretty good movie if you like lovestory/comedy type.

I can't get the images of Elmer Fudd and Buggs out of my head, why do you think that is? :eyecrazy:

Let's see...a 150 pound solid metal object blown upwards 125 feet into the air with heavy duty explosives while everyone stands around watching it fall back to an unpredictable spot on earth at high velocity....you southern folks sure know how to have a head-banging good time!  :J

It is little known that Tennessee and Alabama both have "black boxes" required in our new vehicles, as of 1998 (Kinda like "California Emissions).

Studies have shown that in over half of our fatal accidents, the last thing recorded on the black box is, "Hey, Ya'll! Watch this!"
