Just returned from Easter weekend at this park.  Huge sites with loads of privacy.  W/E and each site.  Sits on a salt marsh so expect bugs and take your screen room.  There is a swimming pool, putt-putt golf course, bike and hiking trails, fishing, boat dock and all located 10 miles from I-95 in St. Mary's near the Florida/Georgia border.  We wanted to take the ferry to Cumberland Island but, being fools, we didn't book far enough in advance so wouldn't have been able to spend more than a couple of hours there.  We will now have to go back - isn't that sad :# .  There were tons of PU's there too.

This is a typical Georgia State Park.  Sites are spread out enough to give you some cushion bewteen sites.  Some sites are larger than others, and there are some really great sites here and there. About 5 sites are near the rivers edge with a nice breeze coming in from the river. The CG is covered by a pine forest and a good layer of grass.  Some direct sun here and there but enough shade throughout. Some pull through sites, but most others are easy enough to get into.  Armadillos sneak around at night on the outer edge of the campground.  Bathrooms were cleaned daily and are fairly new.  A small playground in the main loop and a large elevated feild suitable for a volleyball net or tossing a football or frisbee.  A boat ramp beside the park at the Crooked River.  Miniture golf and day use areas of the park are a good distance from the campground.  About a 20 minute drive to Downtown St. Marys and the ferry to Cumberland Island.  Make sure you reserve seats on the ferry when you book your campsite.  You do not pay for the ferry untill you depart, so just call and give them your name and info, otherwise you may not get a spot on the ferry.  I saw many people very disappointed.

2 areas of concern: more underbrush needed inside campground and hot weather days will conjure up more of the dreaded sand gnat.

Campground rating for Crooked River SP = 4 smores out of 5
