What is the best battery for a PU or in general?

Do I need more than one battery in a series for longer run time?

If so how do you hook it up in a series?

Any battery experience info would be great.  Would love to dry camp if the not to hot for the pets.

I await you vast collection of knowledge.  :)

I have an Interstate Deep Cycle battery that came with my PU.  It's been in use for over 2 years with more dry camping than not.  I do charge it once a month just to keep it alive.  I have had no problems whatsoever.  As far as linking 2 batteries together,  I used my battery for 4 days straight even with the heater running and still had power when the trip was over.

I currently use two 6-volt batteries in series. And charge them once a month. Here is some great information on batteries.

(I hope they are still viable links. I just tried and last attempt failed. Maybe server down or busy.)

We have 2 group 27 batteries and connect them in parallel. I also charge them once a month and make sure there's water in them. 6 volt batteries are connected in series.

You want to use deep cycle batteries for a camper.  They are made to be discharged and recharged repeatedly.  The bigger the battery the longer you will be able to dry camp.  A furnace is the item that uses the most power.  If you are not using the furnace your battery will last much longer.  Group 24 is the size battery many campers come with.  You can also get Group 27 and Group 31 batteries.  I have 3 Group 31 batteries.  If you have more than one 12 volt battery and want to wire them together, you need to wire them in parallel, Positive to Positive and Negative to Negative.  If you would use 2 golf cart batteries (6 volt batteries) you need to wire them in series, Positive to Negative.:)

Great :D

Thanks for the info.  I can't wait to go PU-in.
