How do you sleep?

I'm making the beds in the pu for the first time of the season and got the bright (?) idea for DH and I to sleep with our feet "in" towards the galley of the pu rather than "side to side" with our heads on the side closest to the door.  I laid down on the bed and I fit, I'm 5'10", so I guess we're gonna give this a try.

I figure it might be a good idea so DH doesn't have to crawl over me to get out of bed....  and it might give the dogs more room on the bed.

Thoughts?

Might be easier to make the bed too.  We've thought about it too but I was afraid my toes would hang over the end of the bed because you are losing about 7".  Please let us know how it worked out.

DH is 6'5", or as we say in our house, just too darn big!  ;) We sleep stretched from side to side in the camper, b/c Dave's feet would hang off the end if we slept feet in toward the camper.  I sleep closest to the inside of the camper so that if our little one wakes up or needs something, I can get up and take care of him.

We also sleep side to side.  I am 6ft 1 and worry that my feet would stick out  Plus my 4 year old sleeps on the gaucho pulled out and I would be afraid our huge sleeping bag would smother him in the middle of the night.  I prefer to sleep on the inside closest to the big window so I can breath in the fresh air.  DH has allergies so the window isn't open near him.  Plus, if he is on the outside, he will get up with my 4 year old if he wakes up (which is rare since he is usually dead tired by the end of the day).

I usually sleep in a prone position!;)  We sleep toes to inside of trailer.

Darn ~ TheViking stole my answer! :J

I sleep side-to-side ... easier to get out when I have to tend to kids.  My girls sleep in the other bunkend and they sleep with their toes to the camper.  One small attempt at keeping them from fighting with their brother ~ who sleeps on the dinette by their feet.

I don't really "make" the bed.  I put a fitted sheet on the mattress and then throw a flat sheet and an open sleeping bag over it.

My first PU had 2 48 inch beds so sleeping across the bed was the only way.  I did try sleeping the other way in the current PU, but it was harder for me to get in and out of bed so I went back to the original way.:)

Tena, on the Santa Fe that was how we slept.  Like you say, it's nice whan someone gets up in the middle of the night.  After we got the Aero Bed we switched back to side to side.

Ever since we got our popup (eight years ago now) we have always slept with our feet in towards the galley. Works fine for us because we have a queen bed on the end we sleep on and we are both about 5'5" tall. I wouldn't want to have to crawl over each other in order to answer natures call in the middle of the night.

We sleep with our feet towards the galley.  My husband is 6ft 2in and his feet don't hang over or anything like that...  were the old king size beds longer than the new ones or something?  We have an old coleman with a king size bed.

It's sure easier for one of us to get out at night without disturbing the other this way.

We have the king beds both front and back too.  IIRC, I think they're 77 x 70 or something close to that.  I know 3" doesn't seem like a lot, but it's just enough to make my dh not fit comfortably feet inward.  But he fits just fine sideways.  Like I said, he really is just too darn big!! :yikes: ;)

We sleep with our feet towards the end of the bunk. It has never ocurred to us to sleep with our feet towards the galley, I think I would feel a bit more claustrophobic that way.

Side be side would be OK, but the late night nature calls would mean someone has to crawl over someone else.

sleep??? what is that??? we sleep side to side and depending on if we are perfectly level where are heads go...if my head is slanted down even the slightest I get a headache
