Quote from: macfowlWe are going for sure. We have a group site reserved for both Memorial and Labor Day weekends for 4 days each, up in the Lake Cachuma Area above Santa Barbara, its a group area just past the Paradise Campground.

We might be interested, too.  Is Lake Cachuma the name of the campground?

Is anyone going camping in good ol' Louisiana.  We are on a waiting list (la, la) at Hidden Oaks Campground in Hammond Louisiana.  I would like to make affirmative plans.  Is someone from the South planning a trip?  Have kids and would love camping buddies.

Hi Jacqui and Lori,

I just had to put my two cents in on this "gun" talk you two are having. I didn't like giving Kyle and Ryan the play guns...in the beginning...either. But gave in eventually, just like you have.

That's not the funny part. The funny part is that while I was packing up their rooms this weekend we had an ENTIRE box of nothing but play guns. The boys are 12 and 13 and they will still fill up a couple of back packs full of play guns and hit the park.

And yes, they STILL will pick up just about anything and pretend to blow the other kid away with it. I just roll my eyes now.

Quote from: OC CampersI am like you, against guns but Matt makes them out of his fingers along with sound affects. I have no problems with Super soakers. He would love one. I figured most of the other kids will be at the dunes and beach so the little guys can soak each other at the campsite. Of course when they are mad at each other this could be interesting. :D

Hey Laura,

How are you?  I couldn't post anything because our computer crashed.  It's back up now.  It doesn't look like we can make it Memorial Day.  Unfortunately with everything going on we have to have John's (our youngest) birthday party that weekend.  It sounds like a lot of fun though.  I would really love to go somewhere where it's warm.

Have you decided if you're going to Pismo?  I had to cancel because I think there's a conflict with Kent's Mexico trip.

No aaron. Lake Cachuma is further up the road than where we will be. On the way to Lake Cachuma there is  Paradise Road. On this road is maybe 4 or 5 different camp grounds. One of which is Paradise Campground, which we like alot for dry camping. There is a group of us from work that go to Paradise CG. for Memorial and Labor days weekends, we reserved a group site up past Paradise Campground on Paradise road. Its a group of 4 areas, and they are called the "Sage Hill" group areas. You can find more info on them on ReserveAmerica.com. I'd have to check, but I dont think we have that many people actually coming :) We just liked the big area :) We are avid RC Car/Boat people and there are places there to use them :)

We're headed to Montana De Oro State Park, near Morro Bay. We're going with my SIL and her family. We're going with my SIL and her family. We're going with my SIL and her family. Should be nice. The campground is somewhat primitive (i.e. pit toilets), but it is in a pretty area.

Mark-

It looks like a nice place. If you have room, I think we'd like to join you. If not, please let me know and we'll keep looking.

Any little kids in your group? I have 3 and 9 year-old girls.

Thanks!

We have extra room. We've split the cost between everybody and it turned out to be $52 for 4 nights. Friday till tuesday. We are a small group of friends some from work and church. So we aren't a loudy crazy drinking group. There are quite a few little kids. We go mainly for the kids and cater to what they do, thus not having the crazy people around :) My 4 kids are age 1;4;5;8. So if you're not into the crazy people like our group isnt then come. Its a group site that does NOT have power. Im not 100% sure if there is access to water? There are restrooms and a group BBQ/Fire area. So individual fire rings aren't there as far as I know. This is our first time going to the "group" areas, so were all going somewhat blind :) We usually do a potluck type dinner one of the nights.. I would imagine it might be hot there as well. Im in a pop-up but there are others with big Moho's. But the whole group is a fun group, and with sociable well behaved kids.

Excellent news!  We'll join you from Fri - Mon and $52 sounds very reasonable. (do you need it in advance?)

Your friends sound like a very nice bunch.  We are neither loud nor crazy.  Well, not loud.  You'll have to make the sane-ness determination yourself.  :)  But, I think you'll find us pretty tame and you need not worry that we will spoil a laid-back, kid-friendly atmosphere.

No power or water are OK.  We have a pop-up which has the modern conveniences we need.  Also, I just bought a small generator so we could venture away from hookup-land.

Shame about the lack of fire rings as my DW is getting pretty handy with the dutch oven but send me the details about the potluck and we'll happily kick in.

(You can mail me directly via the little 'email' button below my posts.  Then we can stop bothering the other folks on the list with the details. :) )

Thanks very much for including us.

Well to answer the original question.... Yes we have reservations for San Felipe. We have a beachfront site about a quarter mile down from Rockodiles Bar. The campground is Campo San Felipe.... I use to stay there all the time (about 9 years ago) so I'm looking forward to see if it's the same great place.

Heres the link - I'll give a review of the campground when we get back... See ya all soon... (Oct. Vail Lake!!!!)

See ya,
