Coleman roof brace

My Coleman pop up roof brace popped off at one end. I noticed that apparently the former owner tried to fix it by driving in more screws in new holes. But the screws keep pulling out of the aluminum and the brace end falls again. I am concerned that the roof will not be properly supported besides hitting my head on it. Any advice?

My PU had the same problem.  The dealer installed a screw on one side of the brace, through the brace and the bracket that holds the brace on the ceiling.  They left the other end loose so that the brace could move as the roof moved.

I drilled out the side by the door, and put in a 3/16 pop rivet 4 years ago. Hasn't moved. Fasten one end, and still allow it to "float".
