Finally - we are making our maiden voyage in the "new to us" popup this weekend.  Actually it hasn't ever been used....but whatever. We are going to a campground about 30 miles from home, just in case.

I've looked on websites, made lists, and I think I've got the basic camping stuff taken care of since we were tent campers prior to the popup, but what could we need that has only to do with the popup?

My husband has already determined that our "tacky awning lights" will be little international harvestor tractors!  Guess everyone will know we are what I like to call "weekend rednecks!"

Any help would be appreciated!

LOL ~ I'm not sure I can help with what you might have forgotten, but I had to say I LOVE the "weekend rednecks" comment!  Might have to start using that!!

Take along a notebook and jot down the things you forgot as you notice them.  I'm guessing that since you tent camped you'll have enough to get you through the weekend without having to run home!!

Have fun!

KY Outdoors,
All of your tent camping stuff, plus

$2 torpedo level to level the PU front to back, and side to side,

a couple of 3' lengths of 2x6 to go under one of the wheels to level    sided to side (nine times out of ten, one will do the trick)

wheel chocks,

full propane tank,

charge the battery on a real charger (the converter in the PU will maintain what you have but will not charge a battery.  There a dozens of threads on this topic in Mr Fixit),

extension cord,

converter plug to change the 30 amp plug on the PU to to a 20 amp outlet.

Have a good trip,
Bob

You may need a regulator for the water hook up and a hose, tie down for the awning and depending on the weather you may want to take a heater for at night.  Have a good time!

One of the greatest challenges of camping is figuring out how to get along without all the things that you forgot to bring..............

Hey,

If you have the cheesy lights, you're set!!!;)

It will probably take a couple trips, but yes, bring a notebook so you can jot down everything you need for next time.  I do that, then come home and put everything on my computer, then print it out and keep it in a binder and refer to it every camping trip.

Good luck and have fun!!

The other greatest challenge is trying to figure out how to pack all the things you felt you couldn't do without. ;) :D

Thats the truth Lori!  I need to do some spring cleaning and throw out all the stuff I felt I just couldn't do without and now never use.

You know, each camping trip I feel we need more and more and not enough room for everything.  How does everyone do it?  How do you all get everything you need packed in one SUV and in the PUP?

I guess next we'll have to get one of those roof clamshell things.  I could bring so much more, but not enough room.:(

We have found that a travel journal is the most important item to carry. You can jot down anything relevant to you:
Places you've been, how you got there, what you'd do differently, things to remember, what you spent , ideas, people you've met and how to keep in touch, etc. It doesn't need to be anything more than a notebook. It's the content that counts.
Some of the most enjoyable times you will have will be with friends and family or going it alone and a journal will help in reliving them again....Relax, keep your speed within reason, and enjoy the trip itself. Hope this helps,

Walkie Talkies are good to bring for help in backing up the camper not to mention, if there are 2 cars going...it can be fun. Also petzel lights are great for setting up in the dark or for reading in bed. Keep all of those available to grab so you don't have to look for them when you arrive.

Another thing my DH and I do is to get books on tape during travel. It makes the time pass quicker and it is very enjoyable. We get them from our library.

Relax, don't rush and have a great weekend.
