I just bought an 84 pop up for my family. Just starting out to see if we like it.  The fridge gets cold when I let it sit overnight using gas. But what do I do when I travel? When do I turn the gas off and use the battery or converter?

When I drive, I use 12v. Occassionally I have driven with propane, but had to turn it off in the gas station.

Does your TV (tow vehicle) have a hot line to provide power to the fridge?  If it does run the fridge on DC.  If you make any long stops (over 1/2 hour) I would turn the fridge off or run in on propane.  The DC will drain your battery in a short amount of time.  I wouldn't tow with it on propane.  If the campground is only a hour or two away I precool the fridge then turn it off and don't turn the fridge back on until we get there.:)
