Well I would spend one night in Camp Driveway. You can sort out a lot of packing, equipment, etc, issues with the house just a few feet away.

I've slept the first night in all but one of my RV's more because I couldn't wait to use them and the one I couldn't was when we lived in an apartment and the landlord wouldn't let me keep it there so it had to be in a storage lot. Took the DW an hour to convince me not to stay in the storage lot. LOL

We went out soon after picking up our camper,  we did set it up and load in the driveway first. But the driveway was level, so we took off without any boards for leveling ! Once at camp we had to jockey the trailer till we found a close to level spot side to side wich wasn't easy 'cause we were camped in a not so level area. Don't forget to bring wood for leveling, unless you already bought a BAL leveler.

We also forgot our pillows, the camper now has pillows all it's own.

Take along paper and pen to write down all the stuff you find you forgot or need once on the trip. It's easy to forget something in all the excitement of going out for the first time.

 Enjoy the trip!

bnrevergreen,

The Great Sand Dunes National Park was where we did our 1st trip with our evo (4 nights over Spring Break).  I second the driveway practice.   Each trip I've learned how to do something better so far.  Being efficient at storage and packing/unpacking containers while traveling and when popped up takes the most effort.  There are many good products out there and it takes time and experience to end up with an efficient system that works for you.  After you get more familiar with your evo and its available space, take a look at Cabela's and Sportsmans Guide, etc, for products that will fit and suit your needs.  Don't forget in bear country (most place in Colorado) to keep food items and trash out of your evo when not actually using them.  Lock that stuff in your TV.

Speaking of the Sand Dunes, we will be going in the Medano Pass 4WD trail with our evo latter this month and camping at one of the sites near the Medano Lake trailhead.  We are not going in from the Sand Dunes end of the trail, but entering from the Eastern side over Medano Pass.  Should be a few people surprised to find a PU back in there!

Good luck!

We were actually thinking about Medano Pass at the end of July!!! You will have to let us know how it goes....I was curious about the pullouts...I hope they are relatively close....I can't imagine trying to back up on some of the narrower parts... Of all the pictures i have seen it looks do-able.
Good Luck!!!
