Do you pack an extra fridge?

Hey everybody:
Long time ago I saw a guy that had what looked like a 5 or 6 cu. ft. dorm style fridge that looked like he had screwed handles on it sitting out by his PUP door.  Just wondering if any body has tried this.  It sure would cut back on ice on long stays.

If it is going to be just the two us and we are staying in one spot for 5 or more days. We take a dorm type Ref. And you right it is nice to have the capability to keep a small amount of frozen food and ice in it. We leave the Gaucho bed pads home and use that area as a pantry, entertainment center and Ref stand.

I took a small fridge to the 2004 Eastern Rally in Gettysburg, PA last year.  It was the first time I took one.  I don't know if I would do it again or not.  It took a lot of room to haul it.  It was nice to be able to precool soda and water before it went into the drink cooler.:)

When we had our popup and we were camping 3 or more days at a time we carried a small dorm sized fridge. We set it on a towel on top of the interior stove (which we never used) and it was very convenient. DH's coffee maker went on top of the fridge and kept it out of the way. I felt safer on long trips keeping meats and perishables in the fridge versus a cooler.

We use one of the Igloo thermo-electric coolers ALL THE TIME.  Much more than the camper's refeefer. We love being able to travel with the food staying cool.  GSMx2

My Dh just picked up one of these at a garage sale (for my son to use at a 3 week summer course). Maybe we should consider bringing this on longer trips too (with 5 of us, the inside fridge isn't big enough). Do you guys plug it into the main electric box with an extension cord or just run it through the camper's electric?

We tried that once but the 3 miles of extension cords to go from our dry camping site to the nearest outlet took up too damn much room!!!
Sorry! Couldn't resist!

We usually Dry Camp, so our cooler of choice is the Coleman eXtreme with block ice. Over Memorial Day weekend, we left for the CG on Friday Morning with cubes, not blocks. On Monday morning the meats packed closest to the ice were still frozen!

I have seen people carry dorm style reefers (Fridge, not.. oh never mind!) and it seems like a good idea if you generally camp with hookups and you have space
