Old Goat

Last week we spent four days camping and exploring the mountains of northeast Georgia.. While on that trip the FLOPDOWN, our 01 Coleman  Niagara reached the 30,000 mile towing mark... To date it now has 30,327 miles being towed ...We always log the miles when we reach and leave a campground, so that towing miles never get mixed in with the TV's milage while there....

During our travels from our home state of North Carolina we have traveled and camped in 28 states, in 19 state parks and 23 camp grounds for a total of 178 camping nights....We have visited some of these states and campgrounds several times. We have been in Florida 10 times....

We have met many fine people along the way and some have asked why we still have a popup camper at our age...I am 74 and Marie, aka Aunt Magnolia, is 68. My answer is simple and always the same....We enjoy the sound and smells of the great outdoors and sleeping under canvas... There is nothing else like it...pure and simple...Besides popping up and down helps keep us healthy and able. I will admit that we do have a power top lift but sometimes I like to crank up the top just for the exercise......We have an AC but rarely use it and never at night.......

We have never had a towing problem of any kind or a flat tire in all our travels and hope to visit more states in the future.....

Uh oh...now you've gone and done it....;)

Congrats on your adventures! I think one of the worries that some folks have when they are thinking about investing in the purchase of a pop up (or any other kind of camper for that matter) is whether they'll use enough to justify the expense. Sounds like you've definitely gotten your money's worth!! Here's to many continued wonderful (and towing-problem and flat tire-free) trips! :D

I am truly impressed that at 74 you are still enjoying your pop up. I am 62 and my wife and I continually talk about using our pop up well into the 70's. Congratulations! I hope that you live forever and continue pop up camping. And I hope that the last voice you hear is mine.

What an inspiration you are!

I'm on your heels at age 51 and a whole bunch of uncounted miles. I've been popup camping for five years, but I've been tent camping since about age 9.

Thanks for sharing your story.
