Electrical question

Hi everybody:

     We are going on our LAST tent camping trip next week for four days with the grandkids before getting our PUP.  We may try to pitch the tent on an electric hook up site so we can use a couple of fans.

What would I need to make a safe connection from the sites box to the fans??

To add to Tim's excellent advice...check the panel at the CG to make sure it doesn't have a GFCI already. A lot of times, having redundant GFI's in a circuit will cause a trip for no reason. As an alternative to a GFI protected extension cord, you can get a weatherproof GFI "pigtail". This would give you the option of using the extension cord with or without the GFI.

Thanks guys.  Does that mean that a standard extension cord will plug directly into the electrical box?  For some reason I keep picturing a plug-in at the box that looks like something you'd plug a dryer into.

Most CG electrical boxes will have a 30 amp recepticle as well as a 20 amp. The 30 amp is the one that looks like a dryer plug (and is the one your future pop-up will plug in to.). A standard extension cord will plug into the normal recepticle. If there is only the 30 amp plug, then you'll need a single-pole 30 amp to 20 amp adapter...this is a pretty common item.
