Hello everyone,

We are trying to plan a trip to tour the historical sites in the Philadelphia area.  Was wondering if anyone knows of a campground nearby.  The closest one I have found so far is Fox Point State Park, north of Wilmington, DE. This is about 30 miles sw of Philly.  Everything else I have found appears to be 50 to 60 miles away.  If anyone has camped here, please let me know what you think.  If anyone knows of another that would be good for a family, please let me know.

Thank you

You can try the KOA in West Chester

Or French Creek State Park

http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/frenchcreek.aspx
They are both in the Western Suburbs of Phila.

There are also Colonial Woods

And Quakerwoods

They are both north of Phila.

None are exactly close to Phila but they are the closest in Pa.

I understand there are a few campgrounds on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River that are actually closer to the city but I don't know their names or locations.

I agree.  Been to French Creek a few times.  Really like it there, but it is kind of far to use as a base to Philly.

Jersey I think would be your best bet.
