The Orange County Fair starts tomorrow!! Yippee!! I love the fair--especially all the food that comes on a stick!! :p

Last year was the first year I entered the competitions they have and I actually won a third place for pickled green tomatoes and two honorable mentions for quilts I entered. I also won a special $50 award offered by a local quilt shop for one of my quilts that was judged to be the most humorous interpretation of the fair's theme. This year, I entered a quilt block into the the quilt block competition, a quilt I made for my MIL and a shawl that I had knit. I'm relieved to say that I have kept my streak going: I won second place for both the quilt block and my MIL's quilt! Whoo-hoo!! I love going to the fair--even if I didn't win anything--but this is a nice bit of icing on the cake. :)

We will be going to the fair on Saturday afteroon. Let me know if anyone else will be there and I'll keep my eyes open for you!

I will watch for them and then when I see them, I'll sneak up behind them and let them know you sent me to keep an eye on them.  I'll also tell them that I know all about what they've been up to with Kyle and Ryan.  That should sufficiently freak them out...or mortify them.  Either works for me. ;) :D

Oh, I would love to go to the OC Fair this weekend...but my dear hubby has the day excursion set for Camping World!  I am not allowed to plan anything else on that day!

Congrats, Lori on your awards!  Wow!

Have fun!

No Jacqui, they haven't made any plans to meet the boys. That would entail me being involved (since I'm the only one driving) and I've been too too busy for any kid galavanting. Plus, my CONVERTIBLE only holds 4, sooooo...I don't think they've thought about actually "getting together". They just chat on the phone.

As for the fair. I don't think we'll be making it. The fair bores the boys out of their minds. I usually get sick from eating all that darn good fried food, and then we leave wondering why we came for another year.

If either of the boys, or Randy suggests it we might go...but probably not. We still need to unpack and organize our new garage. It's a disaster area! I think that is what we will be doing this weekend. What FUN!!

Thanks Lori, You are an awesome friend:) . This should show any kid that mom has eyes EVERYWHERE!!!:D .

Kerry, I am relieved that the 4 kids have not made any plans.  Hormones are a scarey thing:eyecrazy:  and I am not ready to deal with them yet.;)

I'm not either, only for me, it'll be in the way of hormone replacement therapy! ;)  :%

HEE HEE I did something simular to that.. My friends son was at Brea Mall ON A SCHOOL DAY AT SCHOOL TIME...
Kara and I walked passed him a couple of times but Kara was too little to get what I was doing..he never paid attention..I called ihs mom and asked If he was supposed to be there...when he came home she asked him "so how was the mall today???" he about pooped his pants and wondered how did she knew..

I'm finding lately that Kevin is getting much closer to this teenage thing than I'm ready for :eyecrazy:

The saving grace for us that I think we have over our parents is that there can't possibly be something our kids will try to get away with that we haven't already tried to pull ourselves when we were their age! :yikes:

But then again, maybe I'm just speaking for myself. ;)

I know, Jacqui, I'm not really ready for this hormone crap either. Just think of this one...our two oldest will be driving in 2 years!!! Remember the back seat of your first car???? YIKES!!

And, Lori, as for our kids not being able to get away with much because we all did most of everything possible....YIKES again!! I think I should have grown up a prude...that way when my boys were getting into these things now I would be clueless. I don't like knowing what's going on...not one bit.

Oh well...they'll be all grown and moved out in about 6 years now. Then I'll just have to pray for them, and not have to track them down anymore.

Parenting is way more intensive now that they're older if you ask me. Just wait, another year or two my oldest will be asking to bring a girlfriend camping...again YIKES!!

See ya all in a couple days at oneill
