Slow AC Fan

We went camping in PA (Knoebels Amusement Park - Great place for the family!) this weekend.  We had the AC on to get the humidity out of the air.  It ran most of the day and that evening (during a thunder storm) my wife turn the fan switch a couple of times.  She thought it was on High wanted to set it on Low - which it already was.  About 30 seconds later the fan started to make a strange noise like there was a heavy load on the motor and the fan speed slowed way down.  I turn the fan switch a couple of times and nothing seemed to help.  The AC seemed to run okay but the fan was just really slow so we turned everything off.  Now that we are home, what should I look for?  I have heard the electric is always suspect at camp grounds... Or is the fan motor in the process of going out... or is the switch bad...  How do I figure out what may be wrong.  Like I said, the compressor seemed to be working ok... I think.
Thanks!

If it works fine when you check it out, there is a possibility there was ice in the coils.  Another thing to look at is a defective switch.

As Austin said, try it back at your house before dragging it over to the service center.

Knoebel's is a pretty big park, and at that time of day with everyone's AC running, there may have been low voltage at everyone's pole.(But I would have thought the compressor would knock off first, and then chatter trying to re-start, but stranger things have happend) Could the sound that you heard  actually have been the compressor trying to re-start?

Hope it was only low voltage or something that does not need repair.

That really does sound like voltage drop. It's not too uncommon in a CG in the summer. If you have a multi-meter (and run into this again), check the voltage with the A/C off and with it on. There shouldn't be a significant difference. If there is, the CG doesn't have the ampacity to carry the demand. This will cause the voltage to drop and you'll see "brown-out" conditions.

Try it at home, if you can. I'm guessing it was the CG power and not the unit.

Okay, I waited 3 hot days and tried out the fan again.  It still runs "slow" even when I have the trailer plugged into the house.  What should I do next?

Since it didn't get better back at the ranch, it may be the starter capacitor on the fan side has gone south on ya.
