Ok Beckie you want to put a Delaware sticker on your camper.

Trap Pond SP electric sites.
I just checked the reservation system and 8/20 (friday) thru Sunday has a bunch of sites open...You can check availability on line and reserve on line.

Cape henlopen has no elecricity and where I can park the Bantam is not where you all would really want park popups, it is OK for the fall and has a nice fishing pier that is included with the park entrance/campground fee. Near the Ferry and outlets.

Killens is nice, BUUUT last time I was there my allergies were awful as they have a field of wild flowers by the guard house/entrance to campgound.. On the SP side, is a water park, great for younger children. This is near Harrington DE, in the middle of the State.
Almost full that weekend

Have never been to Lums Pond. It is the southern part of Northern New Castle County, Northern DE.
As of now, they only have one site for that weekend.

I was at Trap the other year, not too far from the outlets (no Coleman that I know of) and the beaches.  I have an inflatable kayak and a real one, they have Kayak tours...This campground is at the bottom of the State near Seaford

Hi Paula,

We would love to join you guys but we are over @ Spring Gulch that week with a few friends, if the Blue Hens don't make it your welcome to come up to Spring Gulch.

HersheyGirl

Paula, you make me laugh!  Of course I want Del on my sticker map!   But, I will be coming home from a week in Maine that weekend.  Now, give me another weekend and I will be there.  I really, really want Delaware on my map.  I was also looking at the map today and people here go to Avalon beach...know anything about that one?, that would full fill my need for a NJ sticker.  I really, really like my camper and I cleaned it out and got rid of more stuff, so now I really am traveling lite!

Beckie,  It's better if I let Paula tell !   But if your from DE your very proud to be of the Hens.

BTW Paula, When did the state bird get named after the hens ? Was this always ? Or just because the state thinks there all blue hens ???

SheBantam

The only blue hens I know is the UD foot ball team.

yes it is the state bird, but I do not know the history, I am a transplant here by way of Indiana florida and Kentucky.

I am open to other weekends, just did not want to make it too close to Locust Lake.  If it looks like a fall trip, I would LOVE Cape Henlopen even though it does not have electricity (except in the bathhouses). I can call to see just how close I can get to the camping area.

Here are a couple of pics...Tracy, you can't see the dimple on the chin in this one. ;)

The one you would most like to camp with looks like he is in need of a long shower! LOL!
Lets try and work out a weekend....I have a few that are taken, and I have to go and visit my Mom sometime in the fall, that will be in Oct.  So, lets see what we can come up with.  I would like to go there too.

Guess I'm a blue hen (graduated UDel) so can I come too? I'll follow this thread to see where you're headed. Would probably have to come alone or with K (last trip was fun in the tent). Still hoping to learn to tow this summer - just haven't had time. Did teach J to drive though and he now has his permit. Towing will be my goal for Aug.

If it October, I suggest Columbus Day Weekend. Kids go to school here on Columbus day, but State and Federal Emp get the day off...

I also suggest Cape Henlopen SP for the fall.  It is not on the beach like Assateague, but has beach and a fishing pier.  Near the outlets, resturaunts (for those of us not into cooking unless we have to). Some sites have water none have electric.

I spent a weekend there last October completely by myself...Raymond was working on the wood floors (they still need work, but don't tell him)

I have a long weekend that weekend too. I have Friday off so I could leave as soon as school gets out.  I would rather stay further north though.  The Cape is about a 5 hour drive for me.:)

Tracy,

Just back, from camping with Buxcamper & Nascarfn I think we have Dave now in a Jayco 23B, I belive he got sick from camping next to the rest of us hard sides so Saturday we went over to Frezt's for him to make a deal !

BTW I called Guy and thank him again for helping out and steering me, if it was not for him and Dave (Nascarfn) I would have been over 15K for the new trailer...I just posted pictures on my webshot account.  I must say it tows better on back roads then the pop-up but now I really feel those tractor trailers passing @ 80mph !

That is a "normal" drive for me when I head north to meet up with you guys ;)  Well Poconos is only about 3 if I do not stop.  Lewes is about 20 to 24 minutes past Milford

Killens fills up quickly especially if there is anything going on at the fairgrounds.

Trapps is near Seaford,  quite a ways down US 13. Except for Lums Pond SP, almost anything will be 4 to 5 hours.

Congrats Adam on the condo on wheels,
you need to come to Delaware and let me help you and Lisa stock it... lets see, I just won a win glass holder on e-bay, I can get cha a gravy boat at BIgg Lotts, Target had the Potato Ricer that looks like a gian Garlic press and they have the Bullett...should I go on??????let me at your wife, I can teach her how to camp instyle, just hope your credit card can handle our shopping trip....
