I just got a coleman williamsburg 1985 from a friend.

I got the camper up just fine with the crank. I don't have a manuel.  I want to put it down now.  There are two rods to put the crank on.  Which rod do I put it on? and how do I turn it.  I feel if it turn it too much clockwise, it will break.

what do I do ?

I have no experience other than with our own Rockwood.  We put the crank in the only place it fits and crank counterclockwise.  Don't know what else to do!  Call your friend?

it doesn't go counterclockwise, do you have to set it to go that way or something ?

Cranking it up you turn it clockwise, down is counter clockwise.  I am guessing you have a spot on the front and on the back to crank your PU.  Make sure you release the safety catch on the front of the PU to crank it down (if it has the same latch that my 1986 Coleman trailer has).  You can crank it down from either location.  I think I used the front spot to crank it up and down.  Also you want to have the stabilizing jacks up when ever you crank the top up or down.  Have fun with your new PU and welcome to PUT.:)

You could go to popupportal.com and download a copy of the owners manual for your model year, Steve has compiled a large amount of owners manuals. Just click on  owners manual at the top of the home page.
