Have an appointment to look them over. We are looking at 19 or 21 footer. Could use some input on them. MSRP run from 15-18K..

We have an '05 Roo 21SS and we love it! Queen beds on both ends and the slide-out adds soooo much useable room. Of course, as with every other camper we've owned, there are a few things we would change if we could, like......
DH hits the top of his head when he gets into the dinette seats if he forgets to lower his head slightly (he's 6 foot). He also forgets periodically about the overhead shelf in front of the front bed. We also could use about 6 more inches in front of the "throne" for our knees when the bathroom door is closed, but as it's usually just DH and me camping that's not so much of a problem.
As far as convenience and guality, we've got no complaints and haven't had but a few minor things that have been taken care of by our dealer in a very prompt manner.
Dh loves the ease of set up and I love having what I need available when ever I need it, on the road or at camp.

CHELSEE'S DAD

My Wife and I bought a 05 19' roo last year in aug. We like the trailer fine I think the quality is good, I'm 6'4" and I have a problem hitting things with my head but then I have to watch out anyway. This is our first RV so the whole thing is a learning experiance. I would suggest going with the 21 with a slide that makes a big difference if we had to it again that's the dircection we would go and who knows we still might. As far as towing our tv is a ford 150 with a 5.4 I also use a weight distrbution hitch and most of the time I don't even know the rig is back there. Good luck with your purchase, I would buy Rockwood again.

CHELSEE'S DAD,

Thanks for the input. I do like what I see. Looks like the 21SS is the model for us. We are still working on the price and the needs inside.

We had enjoyed our 21SS for 2 seasons now last winter it went back to Forest River for both end and the slideout mech replaced.  My dealer and Forest River were both very nice to deal with concerning this problem.  I only wish all RV manufacturers would do A LOT MORE QUALITY CONTROL!!  If I were purchasing a new ROO now and could tow it I would buy the 23SS because of the dinette step.  I am 6-4

phrog,

I have looked at them for two years now. Of course I do not have one. I backed away when I found out that I might have to get another TV to pull it.
I sure do like the looks outside and the floor plans are just right.... Sure glad you have enjoyed your so much. Happy Camping!

I looked at them, and the Roo was my second choice, but I went with the Trail Cruiser instead. You might poke around at www.hybridexplorer.com as there are a lot of owners there with the Rockwood Roo and it's sister clone made by Flagstaff.  I'm the Senior moderator over there, and very familiar with who has what. I think the most popular Hybrid tends to be the Jayco...

The Roo was a top contender for my wife and I, but in the end, we bought the Jayco.

Primary reason:  Jayco is 6'6" tall inside instead of 6'4".  It is also 8' wide instead of 7.5'.

I did prefer the bunk on the Roo -- about 2 inches longer, but walking around inside felt too cave-like to me (and I'm only 6'2).  The top of my head kept "tickling" from being too close to the ceiling.  Yeah, I know it was my imagination...

We also did not buy one with a "super slide".  The reason was if the kitchen was on the slide, it was too short - not enough clearance above the stove because the microwave was too low (to account for the slide mechanism).

If the dinette was on the slide, then you had to step up into it; no easy way for a 5th person to sit at the end of the table.  Plus, the benches are cramped.

Thus, we bought the 23B, with the big "U-shaped" dinette.  Can fit 4+ around the dinette easily on the benches, and another 2 on folding chairs.

All,

Looks like this is going to happen soon. We are looking at our local dealers now. Looks like it will be a 21SS. We are not sure if we should buy used or not. There are some nice used one's only a year or two old. Should I watch out for anything on my buy? Looks like I am going to buy Hensley Arrow hitch to help with the lack of TV. The tV will pull it but wheel base is short. Suggustions greatly needed ?

Congratulations on your soon to be trailer.  Do you have a link to the floor plan?  You could bring it to COTOC's April trip at Otter Lake Campground in the Poconos to show it off to everyone.:)

Whitestar --

Have you seen the 21SS in real life?  We went to a Rockwood dealer today and I immediately ruled it out because the dinette is so high up.  #1, my son is 6'2" already, #2 my mom could never climb up there, #3 I don't want to feel like I'm sitting on a throne while eating!

We really liked the 23SS with all the floor space and counter space in the kitchen, as well as the cabinet space.  We were impressed with the quality of Roo.  We've owned a Rockwood pop-up trailer and had no issued with quality at all.
