We headed out on Thursday for a TPUC trip at one of my favorite (well, maybe that is former faves) COE campgrounds.  Great group of people to camp with in very hot weather!  A week ago the forecast said temps dropping into the upper 80's for the first time in a month.  WRONG!  Did I mention it was hot?  A sign on a bank said 107 yesterday; it wasn't quite that bad but the temps did reach 100.  And, of course, the humidity was ridiculous.

Last night around 8:30 we were preparing to relax and enjoy the cooler (which means it was dark so the temps had dropped to maybe 85) weather.  My not too brilliant idea was to walk the dog before we sat down.  Oops.  Should have stayed at the campsite.  Instead, my dog decided to "make friends" with a roaming skunk.  Fortunately, I don't think she got the full brunt of the spray, but she did get to bathe in "Skunk Off" as my vet calls it.  We hoped to never have to use the ingredients we always carry in the first aid kit.  That really does work well; although I'm sure we broke a cg rule or two regarding bathing pets as well as probably bending the grey water rule.  I also learned that the pu still stays cool when it's vented because of strange smells. Gotta love a good a/c.

Despite all the heat and unwanted odors, it was still great to be camping.  I just hope the next trip is a bit less eventful.

Now tell us the truth...was it you or the dog that got skunked????;)  How far were you from the skunk?

The dog.  I was actually in the restroom; Karen (my sister) had the dog.  However, when the dog took off like a bat out of #$*@ it startled Karen and she dropped the leash.  That may not totally be a bad thing; at least only the dog got sprayed!  I just heard the commotion and then Karen yelling at me to hurry.

What a trip, indeed!!  Got some really great visuals going here, Jan   :D

I too hope your next trip is a little less eventful!  Glad to see that once again you were at the top of the electricity chain and got to make full use of your AC.  ;)

Welcome back.  :)

Your weekend was as eventful as ours!

We just got home from camping today, Friday night a skunk decided to visit our site. Lucky for me my dog is old and was sound asleep on his rug next to me, but my 2 SILs dogs are young, alert and curious. One got it full on the head, the other got away luckier with only a small spot on the top of his head.

You have never seen a site full of people run away from the campfire so fast! Of course we found it funny cause it wasn't our dog.

Anyways, they ran off to the store and bought a few cases of douche, bathed the dogs in the shower. The douche works good, sat back by the fire once the smell drifted away and enjoyed the rest of the night.

Another site wasn't as lucky, their dog was next to the tent, both the tent and the dog got it real bad. They packed up and went home.
