Hi Tracy,

Have you thought about posting this trip in the Pux Rally section I think there would be a group of us that would like to attend. At least Dave, John and myself.

If we go can you recommend some larger sites to accomdate my tow behind house  {27 1/2ft} and Daves...Thanks !

The trips are posted at the COTOC club section at PUX.  I guess no one looks there?  I have pictures of some of the sites posted on my webshots account.  IF you don't need a pet site there were a couple of very nice (nicer than the pet site loop) sites in the little loop past the pet lop 76 and 78.  Dee106 and Beckie's sister both had those sites last year.  They were big and open, but they are further away from the party site (dademt's site).  I know the people that had the hybrid trailers didn't have any problem getting sites that would hold their trailers in the pet section where most of us will be.  Just call the call center before it is gone and ask them which sites will hold your trailer.  I don't know if there will be a reservation fee after the on-line service goes into affect.  You haven't made the a COTOC trip for a few years.  It would be nice to see you make one.:)

Quote from: tlhdocDi you are more than welcome to share our site.  You know my sister is always welcome to camp with us.;)   I am very interested in going to the 1000 Islands area, but I will have to wait and see what I get for vacation next year.  They should be picking soon.:)

We're considering a 1000 Islands trip for summer 2006, possibly for our week-long outing during August.  We're pretty flexible in August, after we finish teaching our 6 week summer lesson program.  We need to decide by late winter/early spring so we don't book any weddings over that weekend.  I remember visiting the 1000 Islands when I was a kid.  Don't remember much of it at all.  I do remember staying in the Alex Bay area.  I've never been back, not even with our older 2 children.  We never travel up in that area above Syracuse, so it would be essentially unexplored territory for me.

Some other areas we're considering:
Cooperstown, NY
Letchworth SP, NY
Washington DC (already planned for Pohick Bay SP, 4/16 to 4/20)
Might like to try something in PA or NJ during the summer.

We'll also go on some shorter trips in the area over Memorial Day and Columbus Day weekends, as we have to be home to provide music for Sunday morning church services during the school year.  We like to stay about an  hour's drive maximum from home for those.

Let me know if anything here appeals to anyone.

Dave I camped at Letchworth during the north east blackout a few years ago.  It is a nice park.  The falls are beautiful, well worth a visit.  My plans are pretty well set for the year.  I am still up in the air for Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend.  Sara needs to figure out where we are going in November.:)

We've been to Letchworth many times, but never with the camper.  It's tough to explore the whole thing in one day.  That could be a Memorial Day or Columbus Day trip for us.

I forgot to add the '06 rally at Hickory Hill to my list.  How did that happen?

We had 30 days in the camper last season.  Hoping to do at least that again this coming year.  We're certainly not going to be able to run a "4 year old camper for sale, like new condition" ad.  We're gonna use this one up, then get another!     :D

I hope your trailer last more than four years.:D

DiW

I agree with Tracy. We just finished year 4 with ours (time flies).

I'm anticipating more than 4 years.  Even those with hard use will do decades.  Just quoting some of those ads that I see.  Can't understand buying one of these, then not using it.  Some of that is due to different kinds of problems with an individual or family and I always  feel sad when I read them. :(

Maybe we'll upgrade after 4 years, but I like the camper we have right now.  The only thing I'd be looking for is large beds on either side, but we don't need the king size.  The box size is bigger and heavier than we need.  Is there anyone that puts queen size on both sides?

DiW

not Coleman - oops, Fleetwood. The small bunkends were just too small (48" I think) for 2 of our kids to share. Small children or a loving couple might like the coziness but not preteens/teens. When our kids were trying out campers, I noticed the nudging, poking, etc going on (and they were on "good" behavior in the showroom) so we decided we 'had' to have 2 big beds. Queens would have been fine, but Coleman didn't offer them. This has been a long standing complaint. We changed from a 10' Cheyenne to a 12' SunValley just to have 2 kings without adding any additional weight to the camper (but had to give up the outside storage unit). In the end, it was worth it to sleep in peace. I envy those that have both the king beds and the outside storage but that would require a bigger tow vehicle so we do without.

Adam

Hi Tracy,

It looks like we all might be camping in April @ Locust Lake, I will revert with more details after the new year !  :)

Thanks !

In 2004 Fleetwood made The Cortez and Pecos with 2 "Queen" beds.  They are 66 inches wide compared to the "Double" bed that is 48 inches wide, and the "King" bed which is 70 inches wide.  The Queen bed size was eliminated for the 2005 models.:)

I agree.  Our camper has a queen on one side and a double on the other.  We have one 10 year old daughter that we take camping with us.  Most of the time the double bed is fine, but we let her bring a friend on the shorter trips we take.  At that point, the double bed is small with 2 10 year olds, and only going to get smaller as time goes by.  Otherwise, we like the camper as it is.  It's a base model with few options.  We add what we want as we go at a much lower cost than if we ordered the options from the manufacturer.  We've got it rigged as we want it at this point.  We'd really hate to start over with a new one, but may have to bite the bullet eventually.  Tracy's reply on the 2004 Fleetwoods is interesting.  Do any other manufacturers offer 2 queens?  We really want to stay as small and light as we can.
