So I'd love any advice from anyone out there. We are going to Eleven Mile Reservoir in Colorado. We reserved a campsite that looked pretty good. Has anyone been there? This will be our first time there and the first time using the p/u that we bought a few weeks back. Its a Coleman/Fleetwood Utah and I'm excited to use it! Is the screen room hard to put up? This place has no shade so I know we'll want to use that. Although I did just pick up one of those separate screen room tents on sale at Target, maybe that will work just as good.

Anyway, any suggestions on the first trip would be welcomed! Oh yeah, we are traveling with a 17 month old and a 3 year old! This should be fun :)

Enjoy your first trip.

We use a seperate screen room that we set up over the picnic table and the awning. We gave up on the add a room/screen room for the PU. They can be a pain to put up.

The kids will have a blast.

First and formost...HAVE FUN.

Take a pen and paper to write down everything you didn't think to bring.  Try setting up your awning/screen room when the roof is only part way up.  Have you ever set up the awning?  If you didn't, try it at home before you go.  Let us know how your trip goes.:)

Great tip for the awning. Seems like I always forget at the cg.

Have some form of confinement for the little ones until you get popped up.  You will have a lot on your mind doing it the 1st time and it will be nice know they are safe and out of harms way.

Print out a step by step setup and tear down guide to follow, you are bound to forget a step until you do it several times, it is very easy to forget a step.

Put your crank in a safe place in TV.

Be absolutely certain to connect the bungee straps on the bunk ends so you don't lose a baby during the night.

Have Fun!

I keep a notepad and pen in the trailer and each trip I write down what I need to replenish or get before the next trip.

My 15YO son is 6' 1 1/2" tall and he comes in handy when you forget to put your bunk-end covers on before you pop-up all the way!  LOL

For your little ones -- bubbles at a CG can keep them occupied for a long, long time.  Don't forget lots of baby wipes for cleaning them up easily.  Take an extra blanket -- my feet always freeze being so near the canvas!  And don't forget to leave your bunk-ends unzipped just a bit so you don't wake up with "rain" inside your bunk-ends (condensation).

Have a wonderful time. The Utah is a great unit.

Well we are back. Honestly, it was a horrible weekend, but not b/c the p/u was bad! I have questions to ask in another post, but overall this weekend was bad! Our kids were not happy campers at all, I had one that I didn't know if she was getting sick or what but she cried most of the time, it was super windy, and the campsite was terrible! We went to a reservoir that was a ways away from teh water, the walk to the water was over huge boulder type rocks, not something easy to take little ones on, the bathrooms were nasty and smelly, and we didn't like our "neighbors." But it was a good learning experience. When we drove into town, the local Coleman store just happened to have a tent sale in the parking lot, I picked up a ton of stuff that we didn't have! I felt horrible in my nasty scrungy looking self after the long weekend, but it was worth it for all the great stuff! We plan to try to do it again one more time before the end of the season with our friends who also have a p/u, they have kids so it will hopefully be a better weekend at a better site!

Sorry you didn't have a good time.  A bad site and dirty bathrooms are a real turn off. :)

It can only get better. Glad you are going again. Popuping with friends always makes for a better trip.
