Well we bought our first PU this weekend! The owners have not used it in 8 years and we were leary of the inside but after a good inspection it is in great condition for its age. It's an 87 Palomino with hard sides. We will have to replace the board that folds down when you pull out the beds. It's the one with the roller on it. As well as the weather stripping that is opposite that piece. We checked it on Saturday and then later that night got hit with Tropical Storm Rita and it didn't leak at all. There is one hole in the canvas about 1/4" but is easily repairable. Everything worked 8 years ago so we will see what happens. The DH is already starting to get excited about MODs and we have several friends from church who have PU and they are thrilled about helping us. It's going to be a blast!!!

Now you've done it!  You'll soon be checking forecasts and looking for excuses to go camping.

Welcome to the club!

Got another "fish on the line"

Congrats on your first PU. Those old Palomino's surely hold up well.

Hoping you have a great first trip with her, and many memorable ones there after.

I hope Rita didn't get you too wet, we dodged a bullet tith that one here. I am taking our new to us PU out this week-end to show the kids what camping is all about. We just got ours last night. So we'll be learning alot. This is a cool place to look for advice. Have fun!

Congrats!:D

Hope my info about Palomino lengths, etc. helped. And if you need help repairing the back bunk piece, let me know---I have a friend in my town that repaired his with my help.
Basically, it's just a 2x4 covered with fiberglass. Fairly simple repair. Hardest part is getting the fiberglass and trim work off of the old board without cracking or breaking(it can be done), and placing it onto a new one.:)

Paiged1

Hey Miller Tyme,

What do we need to use to get the fiberglass to stay on???? Just put the trim back on??
