Hi everyone,

Its taken me awhile to find stuff  and clubs for pop-ups. Can you tell me if Jayco is a good brand of pop-up. I would really like your imput. Thanks.......Ed C.

Hi Ed and welcome to PUT.  I think all the popup brands are pretty similar in quality.  You will just need to decided what is important to you.  Jayco is a good brand.  Each brand has their ifs ands or buts to go along with them.  If you are looking at used Coleman's you will want to check out the infamous ABS roof sag.  Some have problems and some don't.   Viking is having an issue with their  lift system right now on their newer models.  They are trying to fix the problem  but you might want to check into it.  I haven't heard anything negative on Jayco but some people don't like the fact that this popup has surge brakes instead of electric brakes.  A friend of ours has a 1999 Jayco popup and we watched her put it up and thought our Coleman was easier to setup but that was our opinion.  I guess you just need to find a floor plan that works for you and your family and decide what options you would like on it and go from there.

Welcome to PUT.  There are good and bad with any brand PU.  A lot of it has to do with personal preference.  Jayco makes a fine trailer.  A GOOD DEALER is the most important thing with buying a PU.  If you can't get your trailer serviced it doesn't matter what brand you get.  Good luck on the PU shopping.:)

Electric brakes are offered on Jayco trailers.  Surge brakes used to be the standard braking system offered, but more and more they come with electric brakes.:)

... and some of us like our surge brakes!!   :D

I saw in another post that you got the Jayco 1207 ... I have the same PU and I really like it.  We just finished our first season with it (it isn't Vegas here!) and I was really pleased with everything about it.

I camped with AustinBoston and PJay this past weekend ~ can't compare setup too much (they are a lot more experienced than I am and got in after dark!!)  But, I can say we started breaking camp at the same time and finished at the same time ... and they have a Coleman.  I think it's all in what you get used to.

I think most here would tell you when you're looking for a PU to find one that you can tow safely, that you really like the floor plan on and to buy from a dealer you can trust.   Or if you buy used ~ make sure you can trust the place that will service your PU.

oh!  and welcome to PUT, Ed.  Always good to see new faces around the campfire.

We had a Jayco 10sg(1999) before moving up to a hybrid in 2004 never had any problems with it.

As said before find the floor plan you're happy with and a good dealer.
Also make sure you can tow the pop up with your vehicle.  Don't fall in love with a pop up and find out that you can't tow it.

ps. welcome :)

We have a Jayco Qwest 12A and absolutely love it. We bought it new in Feb 04.
We've used it many times and have had no problems with it except for a decal that started to peel. Dealer took care of that for us. It also has surge brakes and I have no problem with them. In fact I barely feel them activating, maybe because I'm towing it with a heavy duty F-150.

Good luck and Happy Camping!
