Hey all!

Andy, I was just wondering if you're still heading up to North Lake on "closing weekend"...  I had to cancel my reservations due to my job transfer, but I didn't like the new place so I'm heading back to the old place...  :eyecrazy:  Anyway, I was thinking of maybe heading up there on Sunday the 23rd for a day trip.  I'll have to confirm with Stephie.  I just wanted to see if you're still heading up the mountain.  Rick

UPDATE:  Old facility says come back next Thursday, new facility today says no way, I have no clue what my days off will be, or what supervisor to listen to.  Long story short, I have no idea what days off I'll have...

Hi Rick
Yes,we are still planning to go for the "closing" trip.Unless we have rain like we had the last 7 day's,we're a "go".
Sorry to hear about the confusion at your job.
I am planning to bring up the camper first thing friday morning and then pick up Helga in the afternoon.
Mike and Shaina are also coming,I believe friday night ,after work.
Let me know if you guy's can make it.

If the old facility says next Thursday I would go next Thursday.  Do you care what the new place says, you will be dealing with the old place and if they expect you and you don't show they may get a little upset with you.

OK - Today I got BOTH new and old place on conference call, tired of being in the middle...

Looks like I go to old place on the 27th, so I'll be off the 30th and 31st.  Tues / Wed till then, so looks like North Lake is a no-go, even for a day trip.

Andy, PLEASE have a good fire for me, you have NO idea how it is burning me up inside not closing down North Lake.

This was a bad North Lake year for me... not on 171 at all, and now missing closing weekend.

I am glad it is settled for you and that you are back at the old place before the 30th. With all your Sunday/Mondays off you never went to NS Lake this summer...wow.  You can still go up there and have a nice quiet mid-week trip.

Hi Rick
Sorry about your trouble at work.
I will make a bonfire in your name! Just chopped more wood yesterday.
Looks like we're going to be there all alone freezing our butts off,he he.
Did you make reservations for spring yet?

Andy

Hey Andy - thinking of you guys right now up at North Lake.  It's really cold here, I just started a nice big fire in the fireplace.  I bet your furnace is on right now in the camper!  Wish I was up there.  :(

tlhdoc

Rick you should really pick warmer weather for your trips to NL.  Opening and closing weekends are too cold.  There was still snow on the mountains for opening weekend the last too years.  Poor Andy is up there now, probably with an empty propane tank it is sooooo cold.;)

copcarguy

Tracy - you are right.  When we went up there in August for the weekend, Stephie said she had a waaaay better time because it wasn't cold, and I wasn't all worried about the battery going dead from the furnace running all night.  Maybe we should do an August trip up there so we can go swimming in the lake, and then go mini golfing and hit the go-kart place in town.  Whadda ya think about that?

tlhdoc

Humm...August it is hard to get off work if it isn't a vacation pick, but I could get sick if I had too.  They still haven't started picking at work.  Usually they start the beginning of October.  They haven't even said to get your picks ready.  I can't commit to anything yet.  First week of vacation I will pick the Eastern Rally Week, the second pick I am not sure where we are going to go.  It will be a week in August for out "big trip of the summer".  Then after everyone else picks their first 2 weeks, I have to wait for 5 guys to pick 20 more days each and then I get to pick 20 days, day by day.  I wish it was done so I know what vacations I have and then I can start planning more stuff for next year.:)

Hey Guys

We're back!
Thanks for thinking of us while sitting by the fireplace,Rick.
Well,Tracy you are almost right. We did not run out of propane, but BOTH my batteries went dead!
We arrived friday afternoon (we stopped for lunch at Alexis Diner, off rt 84) and it was beautiful. After setting up we took the dogs for a walk up to the Mountain House and it was nice, nobody was up there so we let the dogs roam on our way down. We went the "long" way back, past the "alligator" rock.
We watched a beautiful sunset and had a nice fire that had your name all over it,Rick.Oh,and we went to Selena's for dinner.
It was chilly and we had the heater running on low and it was nice and cozy in the pop up.It started raining during the night and only stopped briefly in the morning.
The rain continued and there was no letting up.So I called Mike and Shaina to stay home .
We had some late breakfast ,went for a walk with the dogs and then crashed in the pop up to do some reading.
After a while I heard a noise and noticed the red(far right) light of the propane alarm on/I checked it out and it's for a fault or low battery.
None of the light's worked. So I switched the batteries and after about an hour or two that was done ,too!
So that's when I decided to pack it up and head home.
Had something to eat at Selena's and got home at about 7:15 PM.
The batteries are 4 and 5 years old and I knew this was there last trip .
This year the campground was pretty empty.
We were at 177 and there was a pop up at 170 and a C Class at 171.
There were also a tent at I believe179 and 180.
I gave the guy's at 179 my remaining 3 boxes of wood, they were happy.
Well,I was tempted to make reservations for next spring and fall, but if you guy's are considering different dates I'm all for it.
Would be nice if we can all agree on a date.
So, thats it for me.
We missed you guy's.
Talk to you soon.
Andy

Hey buddy - sounds like a great time... a typical North Lake visit with batteries going dead. :p Thank you so much for the great description of the weekend, it was nice to be able to picture everything.

We pick our days off Nov 1st and vacation Nov 15th, so I'm waiting till then to see what I end up with before making reservations. I still plan to open and close North Lake in 2006 as usual, but Tracy did have a good idea that maybe we should meet up there sometime in warmer weather during the summer too. I'm up for it if you guys are!

I just checked reserveamerica and 171 is already quickly being booked up. To be honest, when we went up there in August, we were on 183 around the bend in Loop 6 and it was one of the "re-done" sites. We kinda liked it better that it was level, gravel, and had a new firepit. Maybe I'll try another site instead of getting all huffy that 171 is taken. :yikes:

Here's two pics of 183:

Miss you guys...

Hi guys. An August trip sounds good to me too (I'm with the girls who dread the snow when camping). We'll try to make it if we can... don't have any plans for next yr yet. I think I have to go get Court from college Memorial Day weekend but that may change.
