What an adventure!!  I'm just hoping that I'm healthy enough to walk to the fridge at that age!!!!

4900 miles to the fridge?  That's a lot of trips!

It was an average of 20 miles a day.  Since there would have been days they would not have been able to walk anywhere near that far (trail conditions, hills, weather, etc.), there would have had to have been days they walked significantly farther.

I wonder if there was ever an argument? Did you bring? Did you forget? Where the heck are you going? No you can't sleep with me tonight! Do we have to eat that again! My feet hurt! Why did you fold the map like that? Where is the Map? What GPS? Cell Phone? How much further? Your Mother said what about me? Oh and your sister too? I said I was going for a walk, why do you have to follow me everywhere? You know there were 25 of us when we started out! Who is watching the kids? Where can I get a cold beer? What this biker only has water, come on dude! Honey it's not true you can not walk your @$$ off!

Oh but the view! The big ole USA. That will shut anyone up.

Next time anyone ever tells me to take a hike...Well go figure.

I love stories like this!  I've read many books about thru hikes of the Appalachian Trail  (over 2100 miles) and the Continental Divide Trail (over 3100 miles)....and WOW..this one is even further!  I know a couple of folks who have done the AT and even though I've hiked small portions of it over the years, i can't imagine actually hiking the entire thing.  It certainly takes a special kind of person!
