I can't get my heat to work in my new (used) 1992 sequoia.  I opened the gas and turned on the heat.  The blower worked but only cold air came out.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Do you hear clicking, the igniter trying to light the propane?  Are you sure there is gas in the tank?  How long did you let it run?  It takes a minute to get the propane to the furnace.:)

Thanks for responding,

I did not hear any clicking.  I let the propane run for 15 minutes or so.  Only cold air blew out.  Is there a pilot I should be lighting?

We had a similar problem and the regulator off the propane tank was faulty. DH says it was a pressure flow problem.  We took it to dealer 2X.  They said htey heard it working, so it was working, BUT they didn't go inside so what they were hearing was cold air blowing.  But ultimately, it was the regulator.  DH said to also check if the ignitor is working.  BTW, the charge to fix it was not a big deal and worth our comfort at night.

I've found that my furnace and fridge won't light unless I've purged the air from the lines by lighting the inside stove and letting it burn for a few seconds.  The pressure for the inside appliances is pretty low so it sometimes takes 5-10 seconds (which seems like an awfully long time when you're holding a lit match!) for all of the air to bleed out.

I would think the pilot should be self lighting.  Do you have an owners manual or do you know the brand of the furnace.:)
