I live in Anaheim Hills and this would be my choices

1st- Newport dunes..Pro very nice, pool jacuzzi, close to Disney, beach and other so cal attractions. Cons. big bucks and small sites (see my webshots photos from Feb)

2nd- canyon RV 5 minutes from my house. a good amount of the park has long termers but they have VERY strict rules for long termers rigs can't be older than like 10 yrs etc I find it mostly retired folk.(no riff-raff) yes there can be freeway noise but if you stay along the wall like in 106 it's considerably less. it also gives a "camping" feel the sites are farther apart. and some "wilderness" to look at

Don't know anything about the ones next to Disney. my concern would be "residents" in that area but it's only about 15-20 minutes from my house so I can always scope it out for you.

San diego is about an 1 1/2 hours south of here Campland on the bay is nice and I've heard great reviews but have never been to the KOA in San diego

if you need any help  e-mail me  :p

"Las Vegas- Circus Circus has their own Rv park. (approx. $45.00 per nite.) I would be surprised if they have any showers. We are getting ready to go their in 3 weeks with our 9 year old and will have to check it out. I picture a cement parking lot with hookups."

DW and I stayed here last year.  It is now a KOA.  It has a pool, laundry and showers but it is an asphalt parking lot with full hookups.  Grounds and bathrooms were clean.  Don't expect trees for shade.

We did see a few popups camping there.

Main advantage of camping there is that you can walk to Circus Circus and catch transportation easily to explore the main drag.

It is near the bottom of the main drag and is noisy and lots of lights.

If you just want some place to camp that is easily accessible to the casisnos, etc, then this might do.  If you want to camp and enjoy yourselves, then look elsewhere.

I think we paid around $30 plus a night.

The DW, DD, & myself went to Vegas over the weekend and we stayed at the Circus Circus Hotel.  While we were there we drove through the RV park just to see what it was all about.  Basically it was a parking lot with power, water, & sewer.  It was real clean.  It was 47.00 per night, far less than the $200.00 we paid for a hotel room. One thing, we did not see any pop-up's at the CG, so I would call to make sure they allow them there. Mostly motorhomes & TT's. We decided that if we were to go back there we would definetly give the CG a shot.

Quote from: JimQPublicHow is the noise at Canyon RV? I just figured it would be loud right next to the 91 freeway.
There is some noise but we weren't bothered by it.  The Santa Ana river trail runs thru the park so if you are into biking you can bike all the way to the beach (maybe 10 miles).  I also wouldn't worry too much about leaving the camper.  The park has a gate and you have to show proof that you are staying in the park to enter.

WOW on the $47 a night.  I know we didn't pay that much and I checked with DW and she was sure it was under $40. I guess they have taken a big jump in a year but then a lot of other cg's are raising their prices also.

TheViking

I don't know this for sure, but my guess the prices are all over the place. For instance, if NASCAR is in Vegas, I'm sure the prices at the CG jump up a bit.
Here is a list of some of the amenities:

Swimming Pool
Jacuzzi
Full-Service Hookups
Laundry Facilities
Showers & Restrooms
Convenience Stores
Pet Run
Dump Station
399 Spaces
24-Hour Registration
Video Game Arcade

hmmmm... can we say RALLY IN VEGAS!!!! :D the prices may also vary by time of year ...July when it's hotter than :swear:  at 120 deg..it may be cheaper

We stayed 3 nights in Las Vegas at Circus Circus last summer in our pop-up.  It is a big piece of concrete, but is very clean and is right in the middle of the strip, but doesn't feel like it because it has short concrete walls surrounding it.  There are 2 clean bathrooms with showers, and 3 swimming pools.

Not a fan of parking lot campgrounds, but it was much more than I was expecting from Las Vegas and we really enjoyed it.

If you want to Rally in Vegas, July isn't a good time, Its Too HOT!!
The end of April, May or Early June or Oct, Nov are good times. If you dont want to stay at places with a lot of cocrete like Circus Circus, you can stay around Lake Mead, " //www.LakeMeadRVVillage.com ". it a nice place and can comute into town to all the casinos...........Ed
