I have not been able to find any info on websites as to how much the bunk beds in trailers can hold weight-wise.  My kiddies are not babies anymore, so I need them to hold more than your average 6YO.  Anyone know the answer to this one?

I think the ones on my Kiwi are rated for about 1000 pounds.

I don't think there is a lot to worry about on how much the beds will hold as much as jumping around and horsing around might affect whether the beds will stay up or not.

I wouldn't worry about the beds supporting a 6 year old if the bed can support two adults easily.

We looked at one and the salesman told us 100 lbs.  The boys were almost at that point then so we changed our minds on getting them.  I know that was for the upper bunks but can't remember if it was for the lower ones also.  You might try calling a dealer and asking them.

I think you misunderstood me.  I don't have a 6YO, I have a 15YO huge kid (6'2" already) and a 11YO on her way to being huge too (taller than mom already).  And it's not the bunkends I'm worried about, but the bunk beds that some hybrids offer.  Thanks.

I recall one we looked at where the top bunk was like 125 or 150 lbs, and the lower bunk was slightly more - like 150-175.

Aside from that, they were so short & narrow; I can't imagine anybody over 8 years old comfortably fitting in many of them! :)

Got an answer from Starcraft -- 200 pounds.  I don't know if all are the same.  But yes, looking at them convinced me that bunk beds will not work for us.

Sorry, you are correct, I did misundersand your question.

Glad to see that you did more research and have a weight rating from at least one manufactuer.

HEY, your beds on a Jayco are rated for 1050 pounds.  You are well within paramters for your kids---I own Jaycos--they are the best

Trina my understanding from reading stuff awhile back is the bunk bed weight is not very much so I didn't look at those. the one thing I like about the regular fold down/out beds is your "living" area isn't takin up by beds. good luck on yur search
