Something I didn't expect to be able to see from my window this year.  Transplanted to Oregon from Iowa and I thought I would escape the snow.  According to my two brother-in-laws who have lived here just about forever...we are in an area that hardly ever gets snow.  Last year no snow and 1 inch the year before.  It had been raining and I could hear it on the camper roof,  I thought the rain had stopped.  DH went to go to work at 11 p.m. and when he opened the door he said hey hon come look.....I did and it was snowing with about an inch on the ground!!!  Funny thing is that earlier in the day we had gone into town and DH pointed at the snow on the mountians, and I said good that is how I like to see snow...far away and up on the mountian.  Guess I should have kept my mouth shut.   Oh well, as I am typing this I am hearing rain again on the rooftop!!

That same cold front is about to arrive in SoCal. We are leaving for Point Mugu State Park in a few hours. The temp is forecast in the low 40s (10 degree drop)for tomorrow night after the front goes through.

That probably doesn't sound cold for some of you but us SoCal campers are used to a lot warmer temps, even in the dead of winter.

As this cold front goes across the upper mid-west, the temps will drop dramatically. Looks like a white Christmas :frosty:

We left Wisconsin to get away from the snow in 1988 and moved here to Vegas. Every couple of years it snows here for about a day or so. I hate the snow, but at least here its only for a short time and once the sun comes out the snow melts away fast. I dont miss those crazy winters back home.........Ed :sombraro:

Snow sound real good we've been missing it here in St. Louis.
Last year it barely got cold.
Hope mother nature is good to us and gives us a bunch of snow.
She can keep the ice.

How many of you out there are familiar with the term "lake effect?" Here in upstate NY when the winds blow down from Canada over the warm waters of Lake Ontario, we get dumped on. It's been doing that on and off all day today. In between the bursts of snow the sun shines. You can be in the middle of a heavy snowfall, and then drive right out of it into a sunny day. You look in your rearview mirror and see a dark gray sky where the snow is coming down. It's really something!

PJay grew up in Batavia, and her stepdad ran a towing business there for decades.  They used to joke that when business got slow, he would do his "snow dance" and they'd be towing cars off the Thruway left, right, median, and ditch.
