Laura, I just got an XM radio just like yours. Where do I go to get it installed in my car and what parts do I need, if any? Thanks

Oooh!  You'll love it!  I had mine installed at Best Buy, but I'd think you could go to some place like Al & Ed's too.  They'll sell you the kit you need -- just tell them that you want it hard-wired into your car, so that when you turn the car off, the My-fi goes off, too.  There's a setting on the My-fi that you'll need to set for that to function, but make sure they do it right.  I had to take mine back twice.  First time they tried to wire it into the cigarette lighter, and that didn't work well -- wouldn't shut off when I got out of the car.  You can use the antenna that you got with your My-fi, so don't let them try to sell you another one.  If I remember correctly, you'll just need to get the mounting bracket, which should include the stuff for hard-wiring.

None of this makes sense as I re-read it.  Heck.  I'll PM you my phone number, and you can call if you want.

Can't comment on installing your particular unit, but I don't think I've seen anything about satellite radio at all on this forum.  This would be a new thread subject, as far as I know.  We went with Sirius radio on Father's Day this year, and don't understand how we ever got along without it.  Satellite radio is great!  You'll love it once it's installed.

I got a Sirius Satellite radio for Christmas but it can be moved from vehicle to vehicle.  I can even use it in the TT.

There seems to be so many ways of doing it...we've got a car kit and a home kit.  This particular model also has a dedicated boom box, but we received 2 non-operable units before opting for the home kit.  We can use it in the car on 12v power, transfer from car to car with a bit of effort, use it at home on AC power and using the built in FM transmitter we can receive the broadcast on any FM radio within about 300 feet of the unit.  Versatility plus!

Camping Coxes

Hey, you guys, next time you camp with us, say thank you to Paul.  He's part of the crew that got that "package" up there so you could enjoy XM radio (I'm not sure about Sirius, but I know he was involved iwth XM).  I remember when he told me about it, I thought, that' s crazy!  Who will pay for radio service?  Boy was I wrong!

Hi Laura! I love my XM radio!!! Can you e-mail me a picture(s) of your setup in your car. I've checked the installation process and fees with Circuit City. The estimate is $100 including an FM modulator which will improve the signal strength from the XM radio to the car radio. Do you have this? Thanks for your help - Dave

I'm glad you like your radio!  I do, too, and can't imagine a car without it.  Pictures, huh?  I'll work on that today.  Not my forte, you know!  ;)  I don't believe I have a modulator, and I'm not sure how to find out.  If your signal's good now, why fix something that ain't broke?  You could always add it later.  Maybe someone who has a My-fi & reads this will chime in.  I believe the modulator is required for units that aren't portable, like ours.  You might want to ask a place like Al & Ed's, who do nothing but install car stereos.  They'd probably know for sure if you need it.

Well ... I knew that, but I don't have Dave's e-mail address, and I don't know how to attach a file through this board, so I e-mailed you a picture for Dave.  Is this convoluted enough????
