A long time ago some body asked about what you like to listen to while on the road ;can't remember the out come, so we'll rehash it, like the evening news. For example in the last hour I have listened to stuff from, Flatt and scruggs to Ray Charles toThe Allmann brothers band(jessica).Coming up is a little Steve Miller and some Glenn Miller,Casting Crowns And Jars of Clay, maybe some Jenny Owens if I stay up that late.
What are your favorite road tunes?

It's not really old until you're dealing with three digits, and preferably so that the first one isn't a 1.  Classical music is the best for me, although I listen to a lot of jazz also.

Beginning to play some Celtic fiddle at this point.  I've run into a guy who plays some mean Irish pipes, and we're starting to work together.  I'm as likely to play it as listen to it.

We like to start the trip with a loud Willie Nelson's On The Road Again, just to let the neighbors know that we be gone again.. We have a variety of popular, country, easy listening, big band and classical ..Chet Atkins is my favorite, I can drive for days just listening to his flawless guitar picking...

I enjoy both the satelite sirus radio that has comedy, msn, court tv, and rock, heavy metal, and some good classic rock.  I really like bringing my Rush Live in Rio 3 disc set.  They are tied with three other of my favorite all time bands ( Motley Crue, Distrubed, and Iron Maiden).  Of classic rock I love Free, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendericks, Bad Company, Styx, and Reo Speedwagon. They are also good drivng tunes but nothing beats Neil Peart on his drums and Alex Lifesons awesome guitar riffs.

Anything that doesn't either give me a headache (no rap or heavy metal), put me to sleep (no elevator, and cuts out a lot of classical), or have highly immoral content.

If it annoys my kids, all the better. :P

Sometimes,if I try to drive a little too far ,Bachs,Brandenburg series can get different brainwaves going and really put a nice cap on the days trip;(of course at this point,I usually have to turn around and drive a half hour to pick up the family.) :eyecrazy:  :yikes:  :D

Remove the wife's Air Supply, Abba and Amy Grant CD's and replace with Springsteen (Born to Run), Golden Earing (Radar Love), Red Ryder (Lunatic Fringe)....some Santana....and you're there before you know it!

That's tooooo funny. We do the same thing ("We're on the road again"), we sing along as well (don't ask us to demonstrate :eyecrazy: )

Then we put on a Kriss Kross CD, "Sailing". OK...OK, I know we're going camping but old habits are hard to break  :D

Anything new, especially hard rock, alternative, smooth jazz or modern jazz.  It is frustrating to scan across the radio and hear nothing but the same repetitive radio formats, like chewing gum for the brain.  I think life is too short to keep listening to the same tunes over and over, so have largely switched to listening to audiobooks when on the road for any distance.

Ummmm, Kriss Kross were the two kids that wore their clothes backwards. Still don't know who buttoned their shirts.

Christopher Cross perhaps? I think that eight track tape is still laying around here somewhere!:D

Bill Monroe, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Tim Wilson (southern comedian), Robet Earl Keen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and I can't forget Lynard Skynard.

Let's see, what do I have in my i-pod? I use an i-trip to play my music through the car stereo. Bob Seger of course, Elton John, Temptations, Rod Stewart, Al Green, Robin and Linda Williams (local people who do country/gospel/blue grass), oldies, some of DD's music and of course my Christmas stuff.

DH loads car talk and A Prarie Home Companion for our longer trips.

well, on the XM, Ken pops the country channels, and I pop the 60'-70s, so mostly easy listening.
