Im looking at carrying my 14 ft aluminum boat on top of my 1985 viking pop up.  just wondering if they make carriers or if im gonna have to rig somthing up. I thought about rigging up some detachabel steel tubing on the rear bumper and on the toungue to carry the boat, will the frame support this.  also thought about using 3 4x4 to spread weight out on the roof, would the roof support this.

How much does the boat weigh? How much are you going to allow to reast on the roof?  I think if you build small receiver tubes on the bumper and tongue for some uprights tall enought to clear the roof/ac etc.. then the weight would be distributed off the roof completely.  Then you could remove the uprights for the slide outs (beds).

Example:  Use 1 1/2" square tubing welded on the trailer.  The tubing being about 3" tall with a hole for a pin.  Build your frame and rack out of 1" square tubing with a hold at the ends of the legs to match the holes in the receiver welded on.
