bayside countertop/fridge from camper grave yards?

We recently purchased a used 2002 Bayside in which the faucet had been leaking. Our dealer told us the countertop had to be removed in order to repair/replace the faucet, and since the particle board had been soaked it would most likely disintegrate when removed. They quote +/- $500.00 to replace it. Ouch! Any suggestions on what could be done or where we could get a "used" countertop and faucet?

Also, the fridge blows the GFI cicuit when turned on. The gas to the fridge also blows out a rather impressive flame you try that method to use the appliance.  Again, any and all tips or referrals to "used" equipment would be greatly appreciated.

On the upside, the ABS roof is not compromised and has the support arch mounted under the A/C unit.

We gave $6100, out the door, for the camper and it came with: a big screen room, extra shelves over the bed, three portable plug in lights, 2 with fans, the A/C, 16k heater and a reese anti-sway bar/hitch. What's your take on the value for the money?

Thanks, and happy camping.

Was the sink leaking from a bad connection or a crack in the plastic parts?  The countertop would be easily replaced by you if you wanted.  Take the old one off, use it as the template for the new one out of birch or oak.  Buy some gorilla glue, clamps, and some formica for the top and edges.  It will be stronger that from the factory.  The faucet could be gotten from any dealer with a service center.

As for the purchase.  I am not sure, but it sounds good, just as long as you know the leak was from the faucet and not from over head.

Good luck and have fun camping.

Just out of curiosity I went to NADA and spec'd out a basic 2002 Bayside and they came up with a price of 6,000. Just for the basics. If you received a lot of extras, then you are ahead of the game. As far as the counter top and faucet, if you have a swing-level galley than any low-clearance faucet from the hardware store will work. The counter top can be replaced relatively easy with basic "Harry Homeowner" skills. And certainly for under $150.00. Just my $.02 worth. Good Luck!

I agree with the others.  If you know some one that is handy you can replace it for less money and have a better quality counter.:)

Since the Coleman/Fleetwood/Coachman lawsuit suite, Fleetwood has basically doubled the price of replacement parts.  There are some minor cracks around one of the latches on our front storage bin.  Replacement labor would be 15 minutes (drill out a few rivets on the hinges and pop new one in).  Price was $320.  Price for just the cover (basically a 1.5' x 7' piece of ABS plastic with a gasket): $270.  Price for same piece two years ago: $130.

We're dealing with the cracks.

I let one of the dinette tables get rained on, the particle board started to brake down. I made tops for both tables for less than $50. Counter top wouldn't be much harder. DW wants me to do the stove now, I don't want to do any more sanding this winter. Every time I sit something onthe table she is "Don;t scratch it!", I have enough trouble gitting her to use the stove now.
