Camping Coxes

Wow -- the weekend of March 10-12 we have no games because of another league having their opening day and using our fields all day.  David has no swim competition either.  Wow.  Whatever shall we do?  Emily was saying last night she wanted to sleep in the trailer because she hasn't done it in so long!  Now Ihave to figure out where to go and hope it doesn't rain.

So any suggestions for somewhere within 2 hours or so of me (Knott's Berry Farm roughly) that will have good weather?

Surely you jest. You've been in this group long enough to know by now that everywhere will have good weather...until you make your site reservation. Then the Doppler will show huge deluges of rain coming at ya, baby! ;)

Nonetheless, go camping. Then I won't have to water my plants. How about San Mateo (San Onofre--NOT the Bluffs)in San Clemente or or Guajome in Oceanside? Maybe Featherly off the 91 in Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda area or Newport Dunes in Newport Beach.  You could also go north to Malibu RV Park, which is much nicer than the name sounds.  If you don't care about hook ups, there's O'Neill in Trabuco Canyon (about 5 minutes from my house!)

it's gonna rain now for sure :banghead: ....Glad you actually have a weekend with nothing to do...

Carpenteria was lovely about 1 1/2 hours from us....I live down the street!  You could probably get a spot in Santa Cruz, no hookups. Nice campground.

McGrath looks open - but I've never stayed there....Anyone else stay there?

Yeah -- several times.  It's great campground.  No kid play areas, but the spaces are wide open and the beach is a short walk over the dunes & not real crowded.  The only downside is the noise from whatever big road that runs along the CG.  No hook-ups, but the bathrooms/showers are adequate.

If the weather wasn't so fickle right now I'd plan something, too.  Just got an "invitation" for a free 30-day membership to Thousand Trails, and it'd be nice to use it.  Don't know how it works, other than I'd have to listen to a schpeel.  Ah, here's to dreaming!

Ahh, the perks of being wagonemaster.....

Fun Fact: Spiel (pronounced "schpeel") is German for "game."  Appropriate, ja? :D

Okay, I knew how to spell spiel, but "schpeel" looks better to me -- more dramatic.  And Ms. WagonEmaster ... a double post???   :yikes:

 ;)

We're actually considering now doing Sea World and a night in a hotel as a surprise for the kids.  I'll keep you posted.

I sure hope the "surprise" for the kids doesn't include them not being able to find you and Paul late at night....maybe SCCampers better come down and keep the kids company while you two are, erm...."away."  After all, we all know it takes a camping club to raise a child.

Oh wait, you were in the bathroom.  That's right...I remember now....nevermind. :D

Wow, this little story sure has legs!  LOL

We're between a hotel and staying at the KOA Jacqui has talked about.  Right now it's one night at regular price, one night at 1/2 price, so we could get away for the whole weekend.  Now it's the debate of pop-up vs. a cabin -- depends on if the cabin has bedding, etc.

I have a good friend who always stays in KOA Kabins for their vacations. Much easier than camping but a lot less than hotels. I velieve you have to bring everything with you. They only provide the bed. You have to bring everything else. Basically it is camping but in a Kabin. I also believe you use the cg restrooms (that may not be a problem from what I have heard though:p :yikes: )  No indoor plumbing.
