Hey ya'll! Dan and I found a great campground - inland about 10 minutes from the beach in Oceanside that we really liked! Figured that was as good excuse as any to plan a little mini-rally!:D

    Here's the scoop:

    Friday, June 2 - June 4
Guajome County Park in Oceanside CA
Easily accesible from the 5 or 15... exit about 10 miles south of Temecula from the 15 onto Hwy 76.
Great sites - clean and shaded
Good roads and LOTS of play area for the kids
A nice duck pond and hiking trails
A group fire ring for late night fires
Electricity and Water only - dump station available
    $35 for the weekend!  (bargain!)
Close to restaurants (think Friday night after set up!)
Definitely will have a field trip to the beach on Saturday during the day.

Get online and find an available site and make a reservation to join us if you can!

We're in site #10. Try to get the spots #1-13 - they are the best location and we'll be close enough to hang out OR have privacy either way.

    Here's some pics:   www.mennell.com/camping

If you can go...post here and let us know what site you'll be in.

Besides the beach trip for those who want to do that, we'll do potluck breakfast on Sat. We can decide dinner later...depending on return times from the beach...whatcha think?

Here's the line up to date (3/16/06):

  DK&3kids      site #10
     Dee4j          site #11
     The Viking    site #12
     Gryffsmom    site#8
     Wavery        site #7
     Azusateach   site#4
  Estone site #2
 Sue Hardee #3

it's officially we have a Rally started...May the Fish Squad Unite :!  :p

Lori and I camped there in September and it's a nice campground in a regional park surronded by new homes. And you can fish. Griffy caught two catfish in 30 minutes. And you have strip malls just oustide the gate if you need to make a beer run, go to walmart, or have breakfast at Denny's. One drawback though - ANTS. Millions of Ants. Other than that it's great. Besides the ants, I'm sure we'll bring the rain. Brian will bring the snow, ice and wind. BRRRRRRRRRRR.

griffsmom

I just reserved site 8.  We camped here last September.  I took a good number of pictures of the sites up at the top and you can see them here: http://community.webshots.com/album/457368813PwIjOM

It's a great little cg.  Griffin caught two catfish, or "kitty trout" as he calls them, within about 20 minutes of Dave casting the line out.  He wouldn't touch it to save his life though.  The pictures of the look on his face when Dave tried to hand him the fish were pretty funny.  There are some great little trails for the kids to ride tehir bikes and we found a geocache when we were there.  But most importantly, be sure to bring the Comet kitchen cleaner/ant spray to put around the stabilizers and tires.  Otherwise, the ants will carry the kids away in the middle of the night. Hmmmm...on second thought....

griffsdad

Hey, there must be a SCCampers rally. IT'S RAINING!

DK&3kids

THANKS for the ant tip - both times we've been there, it was either too hot or this weekend, too chilly I guess, for the ants, but we'll be packing Comet no matter what now!

I'm in site #4.   :D   If it weren't raining I'd leave now & meet you there in June.

wavery

I wonder if they will let me launch a 45' sailboat on the lake :p

wavery

Oh great!! NOW I read the post about the ants........I hate ants

I'll bring 40 cans of Comet, dig a ditch around my campsite and fill it with the stuff. Is this regular Comet Cleanser or it something special?

griffsmom

Yep, just regular 'ol comet.  Or ajax, as some people also know it.  I also have an organic, non-toxic-to-humans ant spray that Brandon turned me on to and lives in the camper.  When you smell cloves and comet, that'll be me.

griffsmom

Oops, forgot to say--glad you're coming Laura--it's been too long since Campland, and can't wait to meet you waverly! :)

I wonder what the fastest rally ever set up was. We just hooked up 6 sites within 4 hours! :sombraro:

PS I've stickied this thread so we don't have to search for it.
