I know when I'm dry camping my arms get real tired hauling water.  This holds 8 gallons and looks like it will fit under the dinette.

May or may not be your cup of tea but it seems someone at Reliance has been reading the boards.

Now, all it needs is a 12v or solar powered electric pump to get the water into the PU fresh water holding tank.  :D

Wouldn't that be great!  I like that it holds 8 gal.  That means I can fill my tank and water heater in two trips :)

You know that works great for drinking water storage?

You know those boxes of wine that you can buy?......the bladder inside the box is literally indestructible. I don't know if they are made of Mylar or what it is, but they are super tuff. I tested one by filling it with water and jumping on it (I weigh 225). It held up fine.

I used to have a bunch of those when I lived on the boat. We always keep our drinking water in seperate containers and never drink the water in the tank. The nice thing about those bags is that they collapse as you use the water up, then you can fold them up flat for storage.

I've purchased a few of those collapsible water jugs that they sell for camping and they leak after about 2 uses. The wine box bladders last a long time. In fact, I used them for years and never had a failure. They are easy to fill too. The cap on the end just pries off and snaps back on, fairly easily and it has a handy dispenser nozzle built in.

I wish that I could find where to buy those things separately so that I didn't have to drink that lousy wine to get them :p .

I use a $15 folding luggage cart to haul my water container.:)

Well, you could get them here, but then you don't get to drink all that lousy wine.:p

If you drink enough of it, the wine tastes pretty good.  You also get the water container faster that way...and you get a nice, restful nap when you're done.  We won't talk about when you wake up.

WOW!!!!

Thanks.....I just ordered 6 of them. That is just tooooooo cool. :D

Glad I could help.  I saw these months ago an had no idea why anyone would want them.  I think they would be a really good emergency water container.

They are great to freeze and put in the ice chest also. Use it as drinking water after it thaws. I'm going to make a hanger to hang it in front of the galley sink.

Right now, we put our drinking water in 3 gallon containers and have a crockery container on the counter. It takes up valuable space and when the 3 gal containers are empty, they still take up space  .

I'm so glad that this whole water thing came up :D .

Just bring it along to a SCCampers rally...the Fish Squad has been known to have a libation (or two or three...) around the campfire with our "apples" ;)

Now this is a good idea.  I have always used gallon milk jugs.  What would work great is to create some sort of form for them.  That way each one is frozen into a block that neatly stacks in the cooler.  It would decrease the amount you can put in there, but no more odd shaped blocks of ice that may not fit in the cooler.

Hmmmm.  I think I'm going to have to get some of these to play around with.

The nice part is that, as they thaw, they don't take up any usable space in the cooler. They just sorta ooooz between things.

The other thing is, it's hard to properly sterilize plastic milk cartons. The proper way to do it is to put boiling water in them. Once you do that, you should not use them for drinking water because they become toxic. The Mylar bags are food quality. To re-use, just rinse with a mild bleach solution and they are ready to go because they've never had anything like milk or something that will spoil in them.

The other good thing is, they don't let in any light or outside air. That cuts down on bacterial growth also. As you use the contents, the bag collapses in a vacuum instead of the contents be replaced by outside air. Also, the tap on it is much more sanitary than a jug that can be put in the mouth (most bacteria laden place on earth :p ).

Well, I actually use spring water bottles that are the clear plastic, not the opaque stuff.  I've never worried about sanitizing them since I have always used them for ice only, not to drink.  Now that we will probably use it for drinking, I'll use Iodophor to sanitize the bottles.  This is what I use to sanitize my bottles when brewing.

Why do you need to sterilize the milk cartons?  I uses dishes every day that are not sterilized, washed and clean, but not sterilized.  When we use a milk jug to freeze water in, I wash the jug in soapy water and then rinse.  I also use plastic containers to store left over food in, I don't sterilize them either.  No one has got sick yet.:)
