Had to Cancel our Trip

This Sucks, we were suppose to go to Pahrump tomorrow and camp for 2 days, I have the PU loaded and ready to go. But today it rained pretty good here in the valley and it snowed pretty good in the mountains, the only road to Pahrump, NHP (Nevada Highway Patrol) closed Mountain Pass Road because of the amount of snow so were stuck here. So, I guess we'll try again next week on our days off. We were looking forward to getting away.............Ed :swear:

Isn't there some where else you could go?  Does Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire have camping?  How about going to Death Valley?

We could go to Death Valley, but my kids were looking forward to Terribles RV Park because they have a nice lake and are camp site was right on the park, which is nice because the wife and I can sit at camp and see the kids playing on the swings and other stuff, the playground is only 25 to 30 feet away.....

My father lived in Pahrump and talked about not being able to get to Vegas when the pass was closed in.  I've seen snow up there (in May) and can just imagine how treacherous it can be with a good snow.

He knew where Terrible's Lakeside was too.  But probably didn't camp there much...

Better your reason than mine.  Last Thursday I was the middle man in a multi car pileup.  What really hurts is the fool that hit me took off (he was the one who hit me and knocked me into the car ahead and was therefore responsible).  My Vue is in the shop for twelve days and we're not going camping this weekend.  Plus I'm out my deductible.  Not a happy camper!!

Wow, bummer to both of you. We're helping with a Dutch oven class on Saturday. We're responsible for doing a pizza in the DO and corn bread in pie irons. Will do something for lunch also.

Now that's a real bummer. Sorry to hear that. I hope that no one was hurt. Sounds like a recipe for whiplash. Worse part is, it can sometimes show up several days later. I hope you are OK.

I am ok and so is the lady I hit.  My neck was just a little sore but as I recently had surgery on my shoulder I am seeing the physical therapist already and my exercises for that mitigated the slight neck pain.

Thank God for the class 3 hitch - it somehow absorbed most of the impact. I think that as the front end of the pick up hit it his bumper deformed around it and absorbed some of the energy.  The body is not damaged severely - driver side rear end is pushed in a little, rear bumper assembly and liftgate will be replaced.  Front end is not damaged beyond license plate bracket.  I was stopped a car length behind the car in front of me in the rain.  I watched in my mirror as the fellow who hit me screamed up behind me and then crammed on his brakes and skid into me.

The real pain is that I carry collision damage waiver for uninsured/underinsured which was led to believe would pay the deductible in cases like this.  However it was explained to me that unless I can identify the person who hit me (he hit and ran) I am stuck with the deductible.

Oh well.  It was just the cars that were damaged, myself and the lady in the car I struck are OK.  Thank you Lord for that.
