Attachment for cordless drill

I have read that a lot of people on here have an attachment for their drill to raise and lower their pu top and stabilizers. Where did you find them? I have a 2000 coleman utah that I would like to find one for.

A note says that the socket will not fit the coleman/fleetwood crank down stabizers. Is that true? I don't understand why it wouldn't work.

I don't have "Crank-down" stabilizers, so I can't answer that. However, someone posted, the other day, that it does work for both on their PU. I don't remember what brand PU it was.

You might try going up to the "Simple Search" button on the upper far right of your screen. Click on that and do a search for "stabilizers". It was just a few days ago and may be easy to find. I have to leave right now or I would find it for you.

Save your money and go to your dealer and tell him you need another crank. Cut of the handle leaving only about 2-3" of the shaft remaining. Put that end in your drill and your all set to go for both the crank down stabilizers and for raising the roof.

A word of note: YOU MUST HAVE A STRONG DRILL TO RAISE THE ROOF. AT LEAST 5 AMPS, BETTER YET A 6 AMP 1/2" CHUCK DRILL.

For an AC drill.

If you plan on using a rechargeable DC drill get one with at least 450 ft. lbs. of torque, metal gears, and a helper handle.  Dewalt 18v drill or hammerdrill units are the reigning favorite.

I don't know why it will not work.  I use the same socket to lower the jacks and raise the roof on my Coleman/Fleetwood PU.:confused:

When we bought our 2006 Fleetwood Niagara the dealer demonstrated raising and lowering the roof as well as the stabilizers with a drill.  He used an attachment he had there, it cost $15.95.

I have a Dewalt 18V XRP Hammer/Drill. My local dealer has a new crank for $19.95. I like the idea of just cutting it off. Will this work? I wasn't sure if it needed to be hex shaped.

As far as the stabilizers go, my father in law got a deep well socket that fit, took a long, old drill bit, cut the threads of the end, and welded it to the socket.
You should have no problem lowering/raising the stabilizers with a cordless, but it won't handle the roof.  If you don't have access to a welder, there is probably a metal shop near you that can handle it.

You don't have to weld anything if you want to use a deep well socket. Just purchase a extension for the socket and cut off the one end that would have gone into the ratchet but now put it into the drill. You're all set to go.

On the Fleetwood we own the crank works with both the stabilizers and the roof so I just cut off the handle part and I was "ready" to go.

I hate to tell you, but there are a lot of us out here raising and lowering our stabilizers and ROOF, with cordless drills.  I use a DeWalt 18 volt 987 for mine.

Cordless drill was once an option by Viking!! I had a 24v DeWalt cordless that could jack up the business end of Class-A MH...the roof was a breeze for that drill...

I have seen the comments that Socket Jenie model LVSG-875 was redesigned in April 2005. Unlike the previous design this version will not work with the stabilizer jacks. Don't know why, though.

We had model LVSG-625 for pop ups with the Goshen lift system, which has a square shaped winch, purchased right here at PUT! (shipping included)

We recently purchased a spare crank at our Fleetwood dealer for $16.95 and sawed it off. We use a Craftsman PRO 18V cordless drill, which worked flawlessly raising our 14' roof with A/C.

Guess I need to try out a DeWalt.  Had a Ryobi and a Makita that didn't last too long.  Were fine for regular drilling and driving screws, but not doing heavy duty jobs.  Thanks.
