My family and I are driving from Las Vegas to Oregon/Rogue River and we are planning to stop for one night in Sacramento. We want to get a hotel/motel room just for one night before heading into Oregon. How can we find a place to stay that can accomodate our truck and trailer for the night? We have a very long tow: Silverado 3500 Long Bed and Fleetwood Sequoia.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Well I have always been partial to Google.com it seems it can find about anything.

I plugged in Best Western and got their main site. From there I specified the city, state, and arrival-departure date.  Found 20 hotels that had a low price starting at $59  then up from there.  They had thumb nails of the hotel, pick one that looks like it has a large parking lot, then give them a call.

Most hotels have security guards for their lots. Ask when you call.

You can try other hotel chains, BBB, AAA (my favorite) and Good Sam (also a favorite).

I have MS Streets and Trips, Garmin GPS, and cell phones that will go anywhere in the US from a digital area without a LD charge.  Makes traveling fun.

Hope this is of some help to you.

I agree with GemmySan about looking at the pics on a google search.

I think that you will find that most motels cater to truckers and therefore have pull through parking areas.

Sounds like a fun trip. I hope that you have a blast :D

Thanks for the great info. I picked up on the word "trucker" and started doing searches for trucker friendly sites ( i have been searching for RV friendly) and I found a Ramada in Sacramento and on their website they list "Free/Outdoor/RV or Truck Parking" !!! It's perfect!

Again....thanks for your replies!!! Gotta go start packing up the trailer!

Glad it worked out and I too learned something..."Trucker" is a good search word that I had not thought about.  Thanks for your comeback on this and also for Wavery's contribution to the solution...

Bac432, do you live here in Vegas, if so, you are the first one's I found out here with a PU. I haven't seen anyone else from Vegas post on any of the PU sites I check out.....Ed C.  :sombraro:

We drive to Tucson each spring break.  We usually get a motel on the way down and on the way back.  We've never had any problem parking.  We either use two spaces back-to-back or we park pulling perpendicular into several spaces leaving our truck nosed out so we don't get blocked in.  If we unhook while we're there, we park the trailer in a regualr space or park it on the center line of the back-to-back spaces (taking up two spaces with the trailer) so we can come back and hook up when we're ready.  We use Priceline and have stayed at a couple of 4* resorts in Tucson before heading home the following day.  Even those nice hotels have had plenty of room to park our truck and PU.  Many times I will call ahead to ask about where to park.
