But we found another slightly larger, newer, Flagstaff 625D. My wife was pretty impressed w/ all the features it had including the slide-out dinette. It looks to be roughly the same size but w/ the added storage compartment on the forward end.

Looking at what the other posters have suggested W/ their 4.3 ext cab S10 trucks I should be able to pull this, right? GVWR is 3,072 lbs and the Base/Dry Unit Weight is 2,539 lbs. I am looking to buy sway control w/ it too. I am thinking that it may be a little big for the S10 though.  :yikes:

I don't really want to get too much camper and have problems towing. As I told my wife we can get the cart or the horse, but not both.  :p

Thanks all!!

You never mentioned what the rear gear ratio was for your S-10 ... but otherwise,  with the 4.3 V-6 and the heavy duty suspension, should be able to handle that PU, especially with a sway control device. The manual tranny's weak point is the clutch ... they don't make clutches the way they use to!  But, then your no doubt an old hand by now at running that li'l truck through the gears!

I know my GMC Sonoma could have handled it.

Sounds like you found a better PUP and you are going to love having that forward storage compartment. Like many say, Buy your second PUP first and it looks like you are !!!
Enjoy all the memories to come  :)

Yeah, It is much better than the Camplite 12G we were thinking on buying. But it is near 2x the price  :eyecrazy: We are trying to figure how we can scrape together the money. We will be eating a lot of Hamburger/tuna Helper and watching a lot of old movies cutting out all the unessential stuff but we can swing it!

Unfortunatly, no matter how we tallied up our expenses we just couldn't afford the Flagstaff :(

It is a real big bummer because it was like new and had everything we wanted. So we are settling (kind of) for a 98 Palamino Philly. It is in wonderful condition a bit lighter due to the fact it doesn't have that nice slide-out, and 1/2 the price of the Flagstaff. It looks to be garage kept and gently used.

We put a down payment on it and will be picking it up this week!! :D:D:D

My son is so excited he keep jumping around! He loves it!

The dealer said the will go over it to ensure all is in working condition before we pick it up and will demonstrate everything for us before we leave the lot.

We are so excited!!
