Has anyone out there brought their pup to California wine country?  DW and I are planning a trip in a couple of weeks and welcome any advice.

Specifically we are looking at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.  Has anyone camped there?  Any advice on wineries or other activities?

THanks

You should also consider the Finger Lakes Wine Country.  We've got some nice things to do and see, as well as drink, here in New York.

Don't know much about the California end, but I could help you find something pretty nice here.

Not looking to start a wine war across the country.  I like California wines, too!

I don't think a Wine War will happen.  He's in Idaho.  I think Cali wine country will be easier on  fuel than NY wine country.  lol

We visited the Napa Valley for a long weekend last April, but did not camp.  I would also be interested in a review of the Booth Napa State park for possible future visit.  I have seen reviews on another RV forum, and the big rigs generally consider the park to be too rustic - which probably means it is perfect for my style of popup camping.

One tip I can offer - There are two main highways running parallel along the Napa valley.  I recommend checking out the "Silverado Trail" which is far less busy and overrun by tourists than the main drag, yet still plenty of wineries to tour.

Good luck!

Been to both areas and both have nice wineries.

Word of caution.  There was a tv program on a few weeks ago. Some reporters follwed people who were doing the wine tasting bit.  They stopped a couple to inform them of how much they had drunk and advised them that they were dwi.

Winetasting varies alot at different winereies.  We have been to some that are free and others that charge you to sample their wines.

By the way, Michigan also has some nice wineries.  Ask ForestCreature.

Just North of Napa there is a large lake (Lake Berryessa) that has several campgrounds. There is also SugarLoaf Ridge state park which is just North of Sonoma and Kenwood off of Hwy 12. with many vineyards around.  I live in the area.

These messages can be indistinct sometimes.  I meant I didn't want to start a wine war with you California people.  There are some great wines made in both areas.
