Ok, Got 'er set up in the garage making mods for next weekend.

My wife said it would be nice to have a light ove the sink.
So I took the hint...

I found a light in the front storage compartment which seems it's only use was to run down the battery after accidentally turning it on. Sooo...

I removed the light, covered the hole and now have a spare fixture. Muy intention is to install it over the sink/stove area.

However...I haven't figured how to get electricity there. There is none in that area. There is a light and socket about 3 feet away in that end of the camper. When I removed it, all I see is styrofoam insulation. Kinda tough to shove a wire through that.

Anybody done this successfully? Have any ideas?
Your expertise would be appreciated!!

I believe home depot sells a white plastic surface wire molding that has a double sided tape back.

Ahh. Good idea! I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.

You can also run the wires behind the curtain valance to hide it from sight until it has to run over to where you mount the light.  Some people just use the bunk end lights that plug into the ceiling light fixture (or a light that they added the plug for the ceiling lights) and Velcro the light in place.  :)

Not trying to be such a "woman" or anything and take away your playtime with your tools, but wouldn't one of those domed touchlights that are battery operated work for what she needs and be much easier to deal with?  They are very lightweight and you could mount it with double sided adhesive velcro so you can take it up and down for battery changes.  Plus you now have a portable light source.  And no worry about leaving it on as you break down the trailer and running out the battery or worse, burning a hole in your canvas.

I know, this is probably waaaay too simple, but it makes sense to my feeble mind.

Well,
I completed this little mod and passed inspection (DW). Have one campout with it and DW loves it! Sorry, was in a hurry to get this done so I didn't take pics. But here's what I did:
1. Took one of our bunk lights (that is on a coiled cord with a 1/4" phone plug on the end)and held it up to determine the placement of the new light.
2. CAREfully drilled a 1.5" hole where I wanted the wire to be (under the light)
3. Removed the "host" light (the existing ceiling light on that end of the camper)
4.Took a wire coathanger and straightened it out, leaving some of the twists where the hanger is joined together (now looks like a long corkscrew)
5. Attached the straight end to my drill
6. Placed the twisted end into the hole where the host light was and gently "drilled" a channel to the new hole ("eyeballing" the path)
7. Once the hanger reached the new hole I removed the drill but left the hanger in place.
8. I then attached the new wires to the new hole-end of the hanger and pulled them through to the existing hole.
9. From there it was easy to coneect the wires with the existing wirenuts and secure the fixture using the screws that were with the fixture.
As I noted, looks like the fixture was placed there by Starcftaft (and SHOULD have been).

Next mod: Replace this light with flourescent and replace some bulbs with LED lights.

BTW...
Thanks Trina for your suggestion. It is a good one. I just don't like having to buy batteries for every little thing since I already spent the bucks on a G27 setup.
Beside, I'ts the techie side of me that wanted to do this. :)

Great idea for "fishing" the wires!

It's a guy thing.  I have one of you "TOOL TIME" wannabes at home.  LOL  He and his brother are always coming up with some hair-brained idea.  Right now I have a '53 F100 in my garage (not running) and a 1980s Chevy Truck for my son in my backyard (sans motor as of two weeks ago).  He's always got some project brewing!  LOL  But it makes it easy to buy you stuff for the holidays.  As long as it says "Craftsman" on it, he's happy!

We are blessed to have such understanding wives!
